My favorite professor at U-M, hands down. A brilliant but humble man, and a truly genuine person. He is really funny but is also a super personable guy. He is a bit quirky, but you can tell how passionate he is about what he is teaching. He truly loves what he is doing. TAKE THIS PROF IF U CAN. EASY A and a really nice guy

Took this class for humanity credit actually loved it. Levinson was great, class is super easy. Attendance is mandatory but honestly it flies by. Lectures are fun and interesting, no need to study. Just take notes and enjoy the stories. Would def take a class with him again! Really worth it. Nice intro class and interesting.

Sad he's not going to be teaching for a bit because he's an awesome person and prof. His class was so, so interesting and fun (if you take notes, you'll be fine). I would also sometimes run into him on my way to class, and he ALWAYS remembered details from other conversations (he truly recognizes/cares about all of his students as individuals).

His English 383 class might be my favorite class I have ever taken at the University. Professor Levinson is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and I could listen to him talk all day. I am grateful that I had him as a professor. If you can take one of his classes you will not regret it.

Dr. Levinson is an amazing prof, but an even nicer man. I took his class just looking to fulfill some non-science distributions because I'm pre med, and because of him I am now a JS major while still pre-med. He's hilarious in class, and always willing to meet to discuss questions about class topics/assignments. Pretty easy A, and a super nice guy

He's an amazing professor, so funny and passionate about the class and material. Just absolutely amazing, he's clear, concise, and engaging. Midterm and final, not hard if you paid attention and take notes-should be easy. There are seven weekly assignments that aren't hard and a final project thats creative and objective.

Prof. Levinson's Judaic Studies/English class was lit. He cared about participation, but if you skipped a couple of the readings it wasn't be a big deal. Only one paper and one exam that weren't too bad. Was helpful at office hours, went over my entire paper and gave comments.

Seminar on the Book of Genesis was quite interesting. A lot of time was spent just listening to him talk about the subject matter, which got boring sometimes. Good thing he's hilarious! Very relaxed course; turned in a paper 3 days late with no deduction. Not the most organized man and no good with technology, but that didn't affect the class much.

Great professor. Crosslisted as English and Religion, but seems to be shifting towards the latter. It started off greatâ€"reading into the bible, challenging things, acknowledging literary devices, and that there are multiple authors/sources of the text... But lately we've just focused on plot, and I feel like a 12 yr old in Catholic or Hebrew school

Levinson's passion for the OT shined through in all of his lectures. He posed interesting questions to the class and constantly challenged us to step back and consider the text without being hindered by the misconceptions imposed upon us by society.

Professor Levinson is extraordinarily passionate and knowledgeable. You can sense his enthusiasm for teaching in every word he says. His assignments are both fair and interesting, and he's very nice about extensions if ever necessary. I thought his lectures were also very clear and grippingly executed.

Very charismatic teacher. Workload is super easy as well. He wants to make you understand the materials. Very good instructor. He is also leaves exam questions ambiguous and broad - and it is used to the student's advantage.

This course proves that any course with a team of professors is doomed to fail. There's just too much diffusion of responsibility. Julian had a hard time making the students care. He'd ask a simple question to the 150 students in the room, and not one would look up from facebook. Julian has a lot of charisma, but put his talent to better use!
