I was a student at New Paltz between 94-98. I took 2 classes w/Dr. Andriolo and she remains (after 7 years of grad school) one of the best professors. Ever! I learned so much in her classes (ancient mesoamerica and religion and culture) and still talk about them 14 years later.

I took several classes, and one independent study, from Dr. Andriolo while I was a student at New Paltz years ago. Her central European background and teaching style may be off-putting to some, but I loved every class I took with her. She was also a very supportive and helpful guide and mentor. Great professor and role model for young academics.

She is a brilliant women and the subject matter is interesting but she's not a good professor. A whole class consists of her going off on tangents so it's impossible to take good notes; you pretty much have to teach yourself. Her grading is extremely harsh as well. If it's for a GE I suggest trying your hardest to get into a different class

Professor Andriolo is a great teacher and a nice person. She taught this class with passion and made every lecture interesting. she was easy to talk to and answered all my questions with concern. I strongly recommend this class if you really are a serious student, who wants to learn about Ancient Meso America.

I learned so much awesome stuff in this class. If you hate boring lecturers though avoid her. She is really smart, has good and provocative ideas on the subject matter and gives INCREDIBLE READING which will only cost you $20. Little work in this class yet more work put in won't neccessarily give a better grade. 90% of grade is 2 essay tests.

If you have been to Mexico and know its history, you soon realize that her knowledge mainly comes from books. Her knowledge of Mexico is that of a tourist, not what I expected from an anthropologist. I have taken classes at SUNY Albany with real anthropologists and can tell the difference. She's out to entertain.

One of the best classes I've ever taken. Very interesting and she makes extensive use of slides from her time there which makes the course really come to life. Tests are demanding, but straight forward and she is VERY helpful and sweet if you need to see her about something!

Best class ever and she is a great lady. If you need any help, she will help you. She will meet with you whenever you need her and her tests are fair if you pay attention in class. She is filled with wonderful information and gives it to you in an interesting, fun way. I loved this class so much.

She was one of the hardest professors I have ever had, to follow. She was always very helpful outside of class, but her lessons were hard to understand. She has a very abstract way of approaching lessons. She is a nice, intellgent woman, just spacey and hard to follow.

Prof. Andriolo teaches very intensively. If you don't want to work hard, don't take a class with her. She expects you to do the reading and to have thought about it, as well as to be able to discuss your conclusions in class.

Horrible, Horrible Class. She may be a nice lady, i dont know...but this class is the worst class I have ever taken in my 3 years of college. The class time is so boring, and she jumps around way too much in her lectures. The Tests are insanely difficult. DO NOT take, if you care about your GPA!

Cannot explain the material well, does not follow a historical sequence, and cannot give real examples. Very much into external appearances. Does not give of herself as a person and is rarely in the department.

Tough teacher, challenging tests, but well worth it. She's fair & funny, but you must pay attention to do well. DO NOT cram the night before a test (I did, it sucks). Very engaging, she loves her job and you can tell. Great accent & wardrobe. And yes, she loves talking about gory Aztec sacrifices.

I have taken 3 classes with her. She is great, one of the most intelligent people I know! She relates the material in such a unique way. It's impossible to get bored in her class. Yes you have to read the material, but she distributes focus questions well before any tests with all the info to pass.

A good teacher, very helpful but her tests are really terrible. She made development of anthro. thought alot less painful than I thought it would be, religion and culture was awesome, meso america I don't recommend. Her classes aren't for non majors.
