She gives a lot of small at home assignments, if you complete them and show up to class its an easy A. There are two exams, a group presentation, and one paper. As long as you listen to what she says in her lectures youre fine. Her lectures do get to be a bit boring but not the worst. I dont expect less anything less than a high B.

I enjoyed this class. There were quite a few homework assignments and required readings. throughout. Two major tests and two smaller ones in between. Nothing too difficult. One major final paper, and a presentation on a reading. We watched films and documentaries which were quite interesting at times.

Dr. Ampadu is very hard of hearing, so you have to speak kind of loud. Most of class is literally repeating ourselves on answers. However, Dr. Ampadu is an extremely good teacher with a variety of different assignments (papers, questions, videos) and you will learn a ton about the African American culture. I did not receive a grade lower than a 90%

The key to passing her class: Skim the readings to get the gist, listen to EVERYTHING she lectures about, know a bit of history about African Americans and the bible, be able to read uneducated vernacular, and keep all your slave narratives straight. You'll do fine. 2 exams, 1 Major paper, small assignments in between.

Prof. Ampadu is soooo chilll! Easy assignments, lectures are a little boring but that's expected for an English class. Very easy/interesting assignments. She helps a lot and is a fair grader. The final was SO chill. You just have to do the work, and you'll do great in the class. Great professor.

She's a very sweet older lady. Lectures are definitely on the boring side, but the literature we covered was very interesting. Reading is essential for getting an A, she gives quizzes on the readings, which aren't difficult. Exams are very straight forward, and the essay we had to write was an easy A.

I absolutely love Dr. Ampadu. Before taking her class, I heard all types of stories that were not true. Yes, she sends you home with tons of grammar assignments. Yes, every student must participate. However, this is why I loved her class; I left there with a better understanding of grammar. Take her class if you want to become a better writer.

The class is veryyyy easy, if you read you pass. Her lectures are quite boring, and so are the books. Attendance is recommended, but not necessary if you follow the syllabus. There is a midterm, final, and one paper; all the quizzes are extremely easy.

Prof. Ampadu is a very nice lady and really conveys to her students the subject matter. I had her for African American Writers and she was very knowledgeable. Sometimes she is slow(old)and class can seem a little boring, but if you keep up with the readings it should be an easy A for you. Major work was a 10 min presentation and 6pg paper thats all

Absolutely a delightful teacher. She truly cares about the students and their progress and is willing to listen and help. A lot of reading is required which can be frustrating at times, but go to class, listen, participate and take notes. Opened my eyes to different literature. Great teacher!!

I dreaded this class, attendance is mandatory, which is stupid because anyone with a brain could ace this class without going once. Boring in general and no challenging at all. Overall this class was a waste of my time and knowledge.

I hated this class so much. It was extremely dry and repetitive. She was dry and repetitive. I mean she seemed like a nice woman, but I did not like her teaching methods at all. She just threw in tid bits of black history in passing then included it on tests and quizzes. And she requires extracurricular activities for a grade. Hated it.

Prof. Ampadu is great! I took her for Major Writers in African American Literature. There is a lot of reading, but you don't have to buy the books if you take great notes. She goes over EVERYTHING in class in great detail. If you take good notes, go to class, and pay attention you can learn a lot and pass! Easy Tests

This class is good for those that like to read. You will be constantly reading books and stories. The first part of the semester is def easier than the second. Its possible to get an easy B, but you have to do some work to get an A

Teacher was very nice but difficult to understand. Tests and quizzes were pretty straight forward but were on random information about books and authors. As long as you write down everything she has on the board and says, you will do fine. Don't need to read the books. Have to attend 2 events outside of class and write 3 papers.

Such a sweet lady. She's kind of intimidating at first but you'll love coming to class. She wants you to do well !Love the discussions but def. read the material for quizzes and discussions. She def. wants you to pass her course but shes also not going to hand you an A on a silver platter. Easy B if you study for quizzes and exams. Take her!
