Great professorclearly knows his material (this course is absolutely fascinating, btw), stays accessible w/engaging lectures (lots of A/V) & doesn't take himself too seriously. Does grade papers a bit hard but always gives feedback, & if you show critical thinking (& add in some fancy words), he also gives out As. We had 3 papers & a final exam.

This was among the better electives I've taken. So interesting, you barely need the coursepack, and lectures are really fun. Professor Whitesell is super nice and funny. It's a pleasure to come to class

Lloyd was a good lecturer and knows his stuff about music history. He made critical thinking interesting with the topics he picked. Although he's a bit of a tough grader (i.e. the Midterm that never ended) he's worth it in the end.

Such an amazing professor! Absolutely loved his class, he is very passionate about film music which made his lectures so much fun. Tests were a bit tough and he marks papers kinda hard but you can do well if you go to him for advice and ask questions!

best prof ever. he is so funny! he gets really into the music and cracks jokes that aren't really funny but you are compelled to laugh anyway. this was my favourite class this semester! plus the course is an easy A as long as you go to/listen to the lectures.

Amazing. He is so enthusiastic, and clearly loves what he does. Exams are really easy IF you go to class and take good notes. He tells you exactly what to study for the tests. Highly recommended if you have an interest in music history.

I LOVE this teacher! he's funny, motivating, intelligent, interesting, clear & VERY helpful. His lectures are always to look forward to and anything he brings up to discuss is interesting. He allows you to be creative, and is open to your ideas. A major reason why McGill is such a great school is because of great teachers like him.

Really clear teaching style, organised so he covers a lot of ground, gives you fair tests but he's not looking to do you any favours, you have to work for a good grade. I recommend him especially compared to other Music History profs I've had to suffer through.
