He is above and beyond of teaching introduction to computer science. I mean how the hell would you be so tough to students who are first learning their first computer science course and act like they know every materials already. He has an attitude and even made a girl cry when she was late to put a video for a research project.

He is too good. Infact if you're not keeping with class. You're dead. Projects tests. Very tough grader and lots and lots of assignments. If you have only this option then only i would recommend.

Indeed he's not a good teacher. He never helps his students, only use one time the book. Poor communication skills and rude attitude. Not accessible even inside the class. Class room study is a waste of time. If you want to learn watch YouTube or self-study.

Professor Rizo definetely knows his stuff and I believe he tries his best on teaching in the simplest way to students. However, I feel that he fails in really explaining important stuff although you will have to read a lot and do self study to really understand the material. I did not like his attitude sometimes he was really rude.

He is very knowledgeable but he is very tough, you really have to be alert because he talks really fast and it's hard to keep up with him. I took MAC 109 and had to drop it because he doesn't teach that class for beginners either you know understand it or have some sort of knowledge because it can turn into to hell. But for MAC233 he was very good.

He gets a bad rap which I feel is from students looking for an easy class. There are many easy professors at LAGCC but he is not one of them. This doesn't mean he's bad, you just need to actually do some reading, pay attention in class and do your assignments and you'll be fine. He definitely knows his stuff, respect him and he will respect you.

I think this professor is a really bad example of a teacher, he does not care for you learning but for how much of a genius he is for knowing what you are paying to learn, I dont recommend this class to people that is computer literate he will see you as competition and not a student, mocking people for not knowing is his number one priority.

He's possibly one of the best teachers when it comes to explaining things in detail. He gives labs every class but they're to help you on the exams and learn how to solve real-world problems for *UNIX Sys. Administration. Come to class everyday and listen to him carefully. He'll make you one of the best - seriously!

Read the material he gives you and do the labs. He takes time to prepare his lessons and the stuff he was trying to do will usually work. Be respectful and listen and he will do the same. Ask questions and he will give you an opportunity to get more credit.

He doesn't use the textbook prescribed. You have to read to get A. Participation matters because he might have to use your extra credits from HW or in-class tests in curving the final grade. This is a tough class. While the professor knows a lot, be prepared for a challenge especially if you are 100% new. He does make his points clear, you really need to go above and beyond to survive. The tests are really tough as well and not for the faint of heart. If you take this class, be sure to be two steps ahead and do ALL your work.

The courses I took with Professor Rizo are MAC-109, MAC-232, MAC-233,and MAC-253. Prof. Rizo is very knowledgeable. He is the best computer teacher in LAGCC. To get a good grade just read the chapters and do the homework he provides. He cares about the students and he teachers beyond the scope of the class getting you ready for the real world!!
