I love Professor Stein. He's really easy going and really engages with his students. You definitely have to work for that A, but you feel so accomplished when you get it from Stein. Passionate about the material, and has a great sense of humor. Very approachable in and out of the classroom. 10/10.

I adore Professor Stein! He made me want to be a history major. His lectures are thorough, a bit fast paced but he's more than happy to re-explain and stop for questions. He's a tough grader, he makes your work for the A, but it just makes it that much better when you get it. Extremely funny and engaging. Almost always gives extensions.

I love Dr. Stein. He's absolutely brilliant. His handwriting is awful and his lectures can be pretty fast paced, but if you stop and ask questions you can slow him down. If he gets through all the material, he'll let class out early. He's really kind and understanding, totally reasonable. Stein offers a bunch of extra credit opportunities too.

He was not very helpful and was occasionally very rude to certain students. He requires more than a lot participation, but is very unclear and class discussions constantly drifted to random topics. He's very pushy and doesn't let you grow much.

He's a really nice guy and FYS wasn't a crazy amount of writing. The readings can be dense and long, not to mention occasionally explicit (but I guess that depends on what you're studying). Just do your work and PARTICIPATE in class, and he'll like you! :)

The nicest guy. Lectures can move a bit fast and the reading is long and dense, but he is very approachable and always willing to help. High expectations but will do anything to make sure you understand. A good sense of humor and very enthusiastic about his subject. I would definitely take another class with him.

i really liked him as a person and professor, but he was a very hard grader on papers. also, he was vague about the topics of the papers. i definitely recommend seeing him before handing in a paper to make sure you're on track. other than that, the class was awesome.

He's a tough grader for papers (it was a writing intensive course though), but because of him I felt better prepared for all of my other courses. I only had him once but we still talk. A great person and a passionate teacher.

Ridiculous workload for an intro class. Requires most of your work-time twice a week. Not very interesting and a bit opinionated.

Very difficult teacher, but a true scholar. Highly recommend for upper level courses and people who like the challenge of lots of reading and very difficult papers. Not for the faint of heart.

Comment:
He gives too much work for intro classes and grades too hard on the exams. I would not recommend taking a lower level class with this teacher. On the other hand, his upper level classes seem to be easy. He is very unclear with test information.
