By far one of the best professors I've ever had. Don't expect to be able to slack and get a good grade. She grades hard, but if you take her notes on your papers into account, she notices. She will challenge and push you, but it makes earning that A all the more rewarding. An amazing professor if you truly want to learn.

A LOT OF READING. If you are interested in WWII, you'll thrive in this course. She is an expert at history, she has published over 20 books, and is an absolutely 'perfect' writer. She is too kind; talk to her about anything and everything and she will listen. She makes the class fun, and she gives extra credit to the people who attend regularly.

Dr. Bokovoy is an incredibly intelligent professor and you can tell she's well versed in her field. However, her lectures can be boring & dry at times. She assigns A LOT of homework so be ready to work. I didn't think she was as tough a grader as others have said but you do have to put in effort in order to pass. Good class but a bit underwhelming.

Melissa is the head of the History Department. She expects a lot from her students. She is a tough grader. Expect a lot of reading and a lot of essays. I would not recommend taking any class taught by her. No textbooks, but a lot of novels.

Dr. Bokovoy is well spoken and educated. She knows a lot about World War history. But she assigns a lot of reading and writing and she's a tough grader. This class is not easy. Papers are long but she lets you rewrite 2 out of 3 of them for better grades. If you're a decent/strong writer you can skim read the books and still do fine in the class.

She's currently the chair of the History department so take the opportunity to take an upper-level class with her when you can! I took "Everyday Life Under Socialism" and it was amazing. She can be intimidating but has so much knowledge and experiences to share.

This was an eight week class and it was break neck but Dr. Bokvoy promised if we did the work, we would pass. I am bad at history but did all the assignments and extra credit and passed with a B-. Do the work and you pass.

She is a good teacher, though I would say that her grading gets easier and less constructive towards the end of the semester, such as just underlining key phrases and resources used in essays and homework, which is a good thing if you decide to stick with her class and not drop.

Professor Bokovoy is awesome. I had her for History 102 and 311. I was disappointed in 102 because her TA's sucked, but in the upper division, things are much better. The class is interesting and the lecture is not mandatory. As long as you do *most* of the reading, you'll be find.

Dr.Bokovoy is the head of the history department so she knows her stuff. Be prepared to write a handful of essays and go to class to learn the material but outside of that relatively easy. Can get away with skimming the readings as long as you are a strong writer. Great Prof:)

Loved, loved this class. I really had not idea what the Balkans were but Professor Bokovoy made me really interested. She demands alot of reading and she grades hard on the papers but she really encouraged me and I did a lot better on the last paper.

I took her class online...HORRIBLE decision. Plus, this class was crammed into one month over the summer. I was shocked at how much she expected out of you for a 100 level class, especially in a month! She is very hard on her grading. Maybe this class would have been better in person...

A lot of information was gone over in class and did not relate all to the test given. Test given are document based essay exams. Be prepared to read often. Chapter each week during discussion, 1 novel and textbook reading required. Huge essay due in class and primary source analysis must be completed. Miss 3 times of discussion you get dropped

Doesn't require attendance for lecture part of class but you must attend a discussion lab once a week. Teacher loves to teach and discussions helped with reading but lots of times no one had read anything.

I had a horrible experience with this class. It absolutely made no sense. The exams were way off topic and the readings drain the life from you. Overall she is a nice professor but be prepared to give your life to reading in this class

Had her for 3 classes and she clearly likes to teach and interact with students. Only wish there aren't so many students in class, especially when we discuss the books. The reading this semester has been awesome if somewhat of a downer. Would take her again.
