Hist 38700 - History of the Space Age There are 3 books that are required to read during the semester for your papers to write and I procrastinated on that, earning me my grade. If you stay on top of things your grade should be a B minimum. He was writing the textbook for the class during the semester for us as well so that didn't help.

Lectures straight off note cards with almost nothing on the screen to help. Basically the only visual aids are maps. Says "your notes are your textbook." Mid-terms/finals all written. Way to hard for a 100 level class. Will say that the man knows his stuff and is passionate about it.

Best part about Prof. Smith is that he'll go out of his way to get the class involved and hopefully interested in the material. He encourages class participation but he's not demanding about it. He turned a class I was dreading from the beginning of the semester into one that I didn't want to miss. Recommended, would take more classes from him.

This was a really good class. He is very interesting and the class was definately worth taking. The tests are all essay and pretty difficult, but if you study hard, you should do well.

Anyone who can teach the history of Russian Popular Culture should get rewarded. For such a difficult and random subject, he really made it interesting. We watched films in class and had four papers throughout the course of the semester. He was VERY willing to help with papers as well.

He lectures in GREAT DETAIL with almost no visual aids for notes. You better take a laptop to take notes if you want to catch everything. I type 65 wpm and couldn't keep up. He talks too fast to get it all down. His exams are essay format but he does give strong hints about exam questions. Interesting material, hard exams.

I like a challenging history course - if I'm paying, I don't want to feel ripped off. I experienced a complete lack of pleasure associated with this class. Got an A but it really should have been more enjoyable.

Encourages critical thinking in important subject matter that could absolutely change your life and open your mind. Found those in the class who didn't like his teachings don't like to be challenged! Passionate about his teaching!

I cannot believe I wasted my time and money on this course. Reading the main book is like eating bran 100,000 miles from a toilet. Also, the simple fact that obsorbing the knowledge without having any interest is like sucking rocks through a straw.
