Incredibly professor who still teaches like it's 1990. You will be bored, but there are only four grades and you only have to do 3 if you go to class and have good attendance. I never opened the book and got an A, but there were days where I really didn't want to go because of how boring Erisman is. Take with caution.

Tests are really hard. I studied the same way for all of them & got an A on one and on the next test got a D. He doesn't tell you anything that is on the tests & doesn't even have the decency to tell you what you're supposed to be learning from his incomprehensible lectures. Won't be taking anymore of his classes.

I thought he was awful. I studied for every test in the class. I studied all the notes I took during class and read all of the chapters, but somehow still didn't know anything that was on the tests. I failed the class and now need to take it over but will refuse if no one else teaches it.

Direct method of teaching. Repeats himself. Takes attendence (miss more than 6-you fail). Multiple choice tests are easy (PSCI 370). Essay tests are HARD! (PSCI 460). Unclear on what he wants. Essays should be "As long as they need to be." Keeps his personal views out of class. NO homework, pop-quizzes or in-class essays. Not an easy A.

Fantastic Professor. I had him freshman year and hated him. Many of my required courses were his so I just kept truckin' and wow, he's amazing. His approach my put some off but he challenges students to think and analyze more consistently than other profs in the department. ISU is lucky to have him.
