She is old school and very knowledgeable. Don't even try to argue or prove your points because she will bite back and make you feel dumb. However, she is a fair grader and she gives helpful feedbacks. Loved her grade breakdown. Only 4 papers 25% each and NO PARTICIPATION MARK for a 400 course which supposed to be a discussion based seminar.

I took prof. Partner for HIST380 and liked it enough to take a seminar with her. Her style is a little dry, there's a lot of reading, and the material is challenging, but she has an innovative and super analytical approach that make things crystal clear if you put the effort in. She's also a forgiving grader if you write a solid answer.

Professor Partner is very repetitive and does not take the time to adapt her grading criteria for an Undergraduate class. She grades papers by using her own work as comparison as opposed to giving a clear grading criteria.

Can be interesting/funny, but if your major is not lit. Or classics major you will not do well. Only explains a clear format for essays after the due date, if it's not exactly how she wrote her own, it is no good. Midterm requires SO much written prep, prepare 6 in class essays. Hardest/most work done for a complimentary I didnt even enjoy.

took hist of sexuality with her, really dry lectures but really fun b/c she does Not shy away from talking about the messy bits of greek sexuality, including the specifics of intercrural sex. if you do the readings this class is easy, esp if you're decent at writing essays :0

I initially thought she was a bit dry, but she is one of the smartest and kindest profs I have ever had. Makes terribly bad jokes and laughs at them, knows everything about Medieval history, and gives full and very detailed outlines for papers and assignments. Clear, funny and dedicated. She's a wonderful professor!

Very interesting course, but Prof. Partner's lectures can drag on for a while. What she says is interesting, but she has a very quiet and almost monotone voice that can be hard to focus on. That said, in person she's incredibly friendly. Talk to her after class with questions and she's happy to help.

Truly the most adorable woman of all time. She knows her stuff and she's not afraid to speak her mind. She may seem unapproachable in lecture, but if you go to her in person she is the sweetest woman alive. She's actually hilarious too. 100% recommend

Brilliant prof. If you make an effort to follow lectures they're very rewarding and very detailed. Easy to do well if you follow her instructions. She dedicates a bit of time to describing exactly what she wants on the paper when she gives them out, work within her parameters and you'll do well.

History and Sexuality I is a cool course. I learned a lot. The lectures were interesting but a lot of reading. Marks are all based on essays and she is very specific.

Knowledgeable professor, but not the friendliest one. Intimidating. This course is VERY lecture and primary documents based - if you're likely to skip lectures, don't take this class. You'll be confused as hell for the assignments and take home exam. I initially thought 4 25% assessments would be great, but she's proven otherwise. Hard marker too.

Really great professor! She can be a little intimidating, but she seems to genuinely want people to do well. Her lectures are extremely clear and easy to follow, and she knows sooo much interesting information you can't help but be fascinated! Fair and even easy grader if you follow her instructions exactly. Definitely taking more of her classes!

Probably one of the hardest and most useless class I have ever taken. If you are in honours and have to take this, take this with another prof. You can take this in fourth year; it won't handicap you for your honours seminar.

Extraordinarily unhelpful woman. Even after attending all the classes and doing all the readings, she still treats you like a child. Not a bad lecturer, but SO mean and aggravating.

Comment:
The course centers around one book and long supplemental readings, which happen to be her area of specialty. The lectures are dry and extremely boring but absolutely necessary for writing the papers without seeming like an idiot. The papers are short and to the point, though. I took it as a first year, and I would not recommend doing so...

Can't believe that some people didn't totally fall in love with that professor. Her lectures are incredible, very interesting approach to History and she knows what she's talking about. She gives a lot of insight about scholarly debates. I totally discovered a new field with her. Plus, she has the funniest sense of humor ever.

A very unambiguous, take-charge professor. Very rigourous, but this will only inspire the dedicated student (versus the "puke suit" party animal) to meet and exceed her requirements. In private, if you show even a modicum of interest in the Middle Ages, she will bend over backwards to help you, even for classes she doesn't teach!

Incredibly intelligent. She seems terrifically imposing, but she is approachable. Her classes can sometimes seem boring or useless, but so many of the issues that she brings up become so important later on. You love her particularly in retrospect becuase you can then see the significance of her discussions and her intelligent teaching ability.
