On the last day of class he asked if we wanted a final exam review, the entire class said "yes" to which he responded "here's your review: everything we've learned is on the exam" and then proceeded to give a lecture that had nothing to do with the class. His instructions are not clear and written poorly.

Easily the least well organized class I've taken. Sivilotti joked about teaching us what we need to know 3 weeks after we needed to know it (which was absolutely true and not funny). He never responded to emails and was terrible about giving feedback on assignments. He was rude and disrespectful and always ended class like five minutes late.

Dr. Sivilotti has been one of the best professors I have had at tOSU. He was always willing to help and answered questions. Exams were pretty tough but as long as you study and go to class you will be fine. Once again great professor and he inspired and challenged me throughout the semester.

Dr. Sivilotti is an inspired lecturer who takes the time and puts in the effort to make sure that students not only pass his class but walk away from the course enriched in the field of computer science. He is a firm but fair grader and his tests and homework ensure that students who consistently give effort will pass.

I had Dr Sivilotti for both CSE 421 and CSE 560. He is the best professor I had and explains everything very well. The exams are fair and labs are interesting. It is very easy to get in contact with him and he also gets on Google Chat.

Very knowledgeable about Java and industry standards for the language. Tough but fair (and completely passable) exams. Slightly boring class, but the 9:30am time slot didn't help his case. I learned a lot from him and would definitely consider taking him again. Very easily accessible outside of class.

Definitely my favorite teacher in the CSE department. His lectures are informative, he's amazingly helpful in office hours, and his exams are fair. This is the second class I've had with him, and I'll be looking to take more.

One of the best teachers in the department. He gives the clearest and most exciting presentations I have ever seen. He really made me want to learn Java. This teacher truly has a gift for teaching. We are lucky to have him here at OSU. Definitely take him whenever you have a chance. You wont regret it! Believe me.

The instructor really cares about the students' experiences in their progression through the major. Brought useful content to a class that he could have easily blown off. He also proposed curriculum changes at several Curriculum Committee meetings (I was a student attendee) which clearly showed his passion for student learning. Look him up.

I also had Paolo for CIS 560. The department has plenty of great instructors. He and Mathias were my favorites. He is an excellent teacher, and 763 is a good class if you liked CIS 760.
