Only graded on 5-6 exams but he drops the lowest at the end of the semester Exams are usually 8-15 multiple choice questions, with similar answers so you really have to know the material Non-mandatory attendance and does not check homework but I would suggest doing both if you want to do well Tons of extra credit Great sense of humor, talks fast

He is easily my favorite professor I've had yet. He explains everything thoroughly and assigns homework and goes over it in detail the next class. He gives many exams, 5-6, and drops the two lowest grades. He has a sarcastic sense of humor and it makes the whole calculus thing a little less intimidating. I 100% plan on taking another class with him

Hes a good person unless someone asks a question he can get pretty salty. He assumes we know everything from previous math classes, even obscure things. He lets us use our notes and book on the exams. Doesn't give partial credit. All the exams are multiple choice. Make sure you do the hw, also find integral/derivative calculators, they help w/ hw.

6 exams, 10-12 multiple choice with 5 choices per question, no partial credit, they are scaled. I failed the first exam and then I saw how he made his tests and I got a 100 on the next. He drops the 1 or 2 test grades at end. Doesn't collect homework but still do it or you will fail. Gives extra credit opportunities. Good man and funny.

Comment:
Having a multiple choice exam sounds great, but the answers are so similar and no partial credit is given, so if you miss one you already lose a letter grade. The questions on them are harder than anything in class or in the book, so if you want to effectively study go online. He shows up late and leaves early. Unjustifiably difficult.

Professor Scalisi is a very knowledgeable guy. I took History of Mathematics with him and it was a fascinating class. He knew all the material like he was actually there and he has personal experience all over the world with mathematical artifacts. Great Professor, Great Class!

Overall I think pretty average. Gives a lot of homework which is gone over each class. Tests are harder than the homework so be ready to study AND use your notes on exams. No attendance taken and extra credit is available for each section and not due until last day (final). Not easy be ready to work for it.

Best math professor. Clear-cut lectures. Gives clear notes. Drops lowest test grades. Always gives study guides. Would have taken for every class here.

Not a terrible teacher, gives a lot of examples and goes over homework in the following class after he assigns it, his tests seem to be harder than the homework he gives at times and even though they are all open book/notes you need to study so that you're not wasting time looking at them during the tests, overall not bad but not wonderful either

Scalisi's a great teacher and a funny guy. His lectures are clear, & he does lots of examples on the board. His tests are open book/notes. He doesn't check homework, but you'd better do it if you want to understand! He'll explain things if you're confused, but he won't baby you. An easy A if you put in the effort.

If you are taking calculus II, do not take him. Worst teacher i have ever had. Very confusing lectures so you will have to learn everything on your own using outside sources. No partial credit for work on exams and makes exam questions much harder than in-class and homework problems.

You can do well in the class is you use alternate resources cause he's useless. He could care less about helping you and makes you out to be dumb. Take another prof if you can

I'm in his class right now, and I honestly look forward to going. He uses lots of examples and explains how he got answers thoroughly. All tests are open note, and it is a good idea to write everything on the board and do the homework because all the problems come straight from that. Overall, he just gets down to business as soon as he walks in.

My grade was based on 3 tests. The upside was he dropped the lowest test score and counted the final twice. the bad side was all the tests were all multiple choice with no partial credit. so make sure your work is 100 percent correct because he likes to make the answers seem similar.

Some people here have said he treats the students like crap. I haven't seen it in my class. I have asked questions myself and my experience is positive. He is a good guy. I mean he's not going to tuck you in and read you a bedtime story, but he wants you to learn. Best advice I can give is DO THE HOMEWORK so you can see if you need the AAC

Tests are all open book and open note. You have about 4 tests per semester and the lowest one is dropped. Very nice guy and doesn't chew someone up about not getting a theory the first time. Tests can be hard as no partial credit is given, however they are scaled. Do your homework and keep tons of examples in your notebook and you will do great
