The BEST professor I've ever had. Completely knowledgable, relevant, wise, caring. Tough but fair. You get what you put into it. Truly understands Latin culture. Open mind, inclusive of all, treats his students like family. Outstanding sense of humor / quick wit. You will enjoy learning from him. Excellent instruction. Integrity beyond reproach.

Dr. Magrans inspired me to want to learn Spanish. He comes off as a really tough, sarcastic guy but is really a big teddy bear. I really grow to appreciate his "tough" love. If you are serious about learning he was the guy to take--if you just wanted to coast, you should make another choice.

Excellent professor. Tests are take home. You will be laughing the whole time you are in class. Engages the whole class and really knows his stuff. I would recommend for anyone that is interested in taking Spanish.

Great guy. He is very political and will tell you exactly what he thinks. He gives alot of extra credit, can skip final, one paper in engl. Buddy up with a couple people and work together. His tests are take home besides the 6 oral questions, that he allows students to suggest... Great professor!! Took him for both 1010 and 1020.

he is my advisor and i advise anyone who takes a spanish class to get him. not only is he insightful, but helpful and easy to talk to. you do have to go to class but he is worth it. for those who made derogatory comments on magrans are pretty much spoiled little kids who are used to having someone kiss their butt and he will not do this

I have had the pleasure of having him for several other classes. He brings humor to his lectures, and interesting additions to the text, or topic of the day. To fail one of his classes you really have to screw up, if you are honestly trying he will pass you.

Very nice guy, all you have to do is go to class. take home test, except for 6 oral questions you have to answer.. but you even get the questions before the week before the test.. the vocab quiz are extra credit. studyspanish.com helps too... good teacher

You have to not care to do badly in his class. He is a wonderful professor(unlike some of the upper people in austin peay think) He blesses the class with personality and a feeling of actual human compassion. Austin Peay could use more teachers like him. I Pray that one day they realize that.

I think that Dr. Magrans is a good professor. He seems tough on the outside, but once you get to know him, you will find that he really is a humorous and caring guy. I think that the sarcastic comments he make are very funny. He gives take home test (with exception of midterm) and quizes for extra credit. What more can you ask for!

He can be very sarcastic but that's if you are not paying attention or don't participate in class. He assigns one paper (your choice of a Latin Country) & there are quiz's every day. The exams are take home except for the first 6 questions. They are done in class. The mid-term is taken in class & no final exam if you have an "A" for the semester.
