Prof. Wilkens is the best! his class is difficult but he is always more than willing to help! i took his class twice and still have nothing but good things to say. he will only pass you if he feels you have adequately learned the material. RECOMMENDED.

Dr. Wilkens wants his students to understand the subject backwards and forwards- very apparent in his assignments & tests (which made me feel dislexic at times), but forces you to understand Biology on a level you should for upper level bio courses. Goes above and beyond to cater to the class's aptitude and offers helpful study tips. Loved him.

I took him because of all the great reviews.Little did I know how difficult his class is. He openly admits the average in his class is a 75 and you probably won't get higher unless you are a Science major. He makes his tests really difficult. Take someone who is reasonable!

He is the best teacher I've ever taken. He is extremely helpful and cares about his students progress...and he gives helpful review sheets. I am so glad I had the opportunity to take a class with him. I learned a lot from the class and him as a teacher. He is in my opinion the best teacher Ive had in my academic career. Professor W. For Dowling students, he is a perfect professor. His teaching style is simple and is targeted at students who do not intend to pursue science as a career. The level of information delivered is low enough to keep such students interested. His antithesis is Professor Vargas who's intelligent and great at navigating through the difficult logic of math

Great guy! Took him for the winter session, he made it fun. gave great notes. 3 papers but they were easy to write if you paid attention and they could all be rewritten as many times as you wanted. tests werent hard either but listen when he lectures! you'll get all the answers. I liked him. interesting class. good guy.

I do not suggest taking Wilkens. He is a hard grader, which is not always bad..but it feels like you do so much work just to have to rewrite it. He allows you to rewrite papers, but he expects way too much for essays(they are more like papers) and his tests are ridiculously hard. I suggest taking a different professor if possible

Very enthusiastic - can tell he loves to teach. Best professor I've EVER had. Tests are tough but straight from his notes, which are flawless. Also practice writing skills - tough grader. Class is fun and you learn a lot. Wish he taught every class.
