Tests are way harder than anything in the book and way more diffucult than the homework. He doesnt go over anything in class except the first paragraph of ever chapter in the book and random theory that is worthless on your homework and tests. People who say he is a good teacher are crazy.

Fairly good teacher. The material is tough, but Dr. Boivin goes over everything you'll need to know. There are homework assignments due almost every week. His tests are very similar to the homework so if you study your notes and homework, you'll do fine. I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Boivin over the other physics professors.

Very good professor, has a charming personality that keeps you interested. Difficult to learn from lectures but PHYSICS 2 IS A HARD CONCEPT. Read each chapter in the book before each week and it will work wonders for your understanding. the university assigned book does a VERY good job of teaching the subject. Homework is just like examples in book

Hes not a bad professor. Just understand that physics 2 is stuff that if you havent taken this class before is a completly new idea and is hard in nature. He scales everything at least 5 points and his scale is 85-100 A 70-84 B. His tests are not that bad if you understand the concepts and how to manipulate equations.hes always at his office.

You need to go to class to get Example problems that are like HW. HW, even though supposed to be from book, is quite hard. I devoted many hours to this class and it looks as if I'm still going to get a C. Going to class helps, and going to his office hours help but class is still super hard.

Worst professor I've ever had. First C I've ever received. Problems 'worked in class'--read off from the projector--were completely unlike problems assigned for homework. Was unhelpful and rude during office hours...talked at me for a whole hour about kids today and how I could be a better person/student when I went to turn in my homework.

I had Boivin for PHYS 1600 and 1610. He is an amazing professor, and any bad reviews on here are from lazy kids who did not have enough drive to apply themselves. USE YOUR BOOK along with lecture notes. Best professor yet...wish I could have him for my engineering courses as well. I highly suggest taking him for these classes.

Dr. Boivin's class, for those of us who attended and were motivated enough to work, was not difficult. There were weekly homework assignments given weeks in advance. The problems were not unreasonable and could be found in the book. Boivin is a great professor who gives you the grade you deserve. I recommend using the book along with your notes.

For this class, you need to apply yourself, and ask him for help outside of class when you don't get something. The homework grades can really help you if you're struggling on the other stuff. And go to class! It's not that hard to!

Physics is tough, but Dr. Boivin is the best teacher you can get if you want to learn something. He is very helpful if you put forth the effort to go to his office and ask questions. He want give you the answers, but he'll talk you through it until you understand, which is exactly what a professor should do.

Physics is hard and Boivin wont help you if you dont try, so do ur HW!!! He doesnt scale, but he doesnt ask questions that he hasnt covered. Do your HW, ask Q's, and use his office hours. His tests arent the same between classes, but are a good study guide. And for gods sake dont rely on the solutions manual for HW. Oh, and know your formulas.

Worst teacher ever. Do not take for any reason. Class is useless, and he will not look you in the eye for any reason. Just get a tutor and weight the class out if you have him.

Normal Physics teacher i suppose, lectures are a complete waste of time he just reads slides straight from the textbook. I do not recommend this guy to anyone, only scales tests like 5 points, but has a 5-10 pt. scale built into your final grade.
