Comment:

First off, lab is a complete waste. He will hand out packets at the beginning of class and then vanish, leaving no time for questions or explanations. On top of that he never looks at the labs and tells us that they for our own use, so you never know if anything is right! I do not recommend this professor. Bad teaching style.

don't take this class. This is the first time the reviews here have let me down. the class and lab are literally 5 tests with no other work. he just lectures, and is not approachable because he makes you feel dumb. He says he scales, but we will see how true that is. Hard to do well unless you want to major in material. Avoid

I hated this class. He is not helpful at all and makes you feel like an idiot if you're confused. He expects you to know everything about rocks that he does and love every bit of it. Tests are so hard, they always have info not from the lectures. He does scale them, but it's almost not worth it. I definitely would not take him for another course

I've have Dr. Cicerone for Geophysics and Mineralogy lab and I currently have him for Structural Geology. He is one of the best teachers you will ever have. He is VERY easy to understand, super helpful and really understanding if you need to miss a class. He never uses the textbook, but exams are open note/book.

one of the best teachers! he is so helpful and wants you to do well! he scales the tests, and he leaves the room during his tests. his test can be tricky but no matter how you do on them as long as you come to class and make an effort he will pass you! love him take his class love his sense of humor! :]

Doesn't take attendance, all lecture slides are on Blackboard. He's not dumb... he's well aware that most of the class doesn't care about geology at all, but he tries to make the class interesting. His tests were confusing, but he scaled the grades - nobody did well. Def would recommend him over any bio class for a science lab core.

ok people! to sum it up: wicked boring class, he leaves the room when you take lab quizzes so you can all work together, i've fallen asleep in pretty much every lecture, he dims the lights so it's perfect sleeping atmosphere! take this class people if you know whats good for you!!!!

His class was sooo boring. All we did is sit in hard wooden chairs in a dark room and copy notes off his powerpoint presentations. His tests are ok, but some of the questions are really hard and you wonder where they came from. Overall he;s a nice enough guy though. you can tell he loves this topic.
