Comment:
Sharad is EASILY the worst professor I've had at UW. He comes off as a decent person, but his ability to teach calculus is absolutely horrendous. Our 200 person lecture had about 30 students show up each time, as kids began giving up on his teaching, instead trying to teach themselves. He skims over new topics and assumes you master old ones. Avoid

Often over complicates simple concepts. The content was not hard since I had a strong background in trig and algebra. Would not recommend him for someone just starting off because his explainations are a lot more confusing than they need to be. Discussions are helpful. We had a quiz every Tuesday and those are usually similar to the exams.

Comment:
Sharad's lectures can be very confusing and hard to follow. He spends a lot of time on certain topics, and explains in way more detail than is necessary. The exams are difficult, and the homework is time consuming, and does not relate to the class. Sharad would be a great grandpa, but not the best professor.

If you compare this class to a restaurant, it's sort of like ordering nice steak and getting a burnt Bubba Burger patty: hard, miserable, and putrid in content. Sharad is the waiter who takes an hour to help your table, so you sit there miserable and helpless. It speaks volumes about the University Math Department that this man is still employed.

This man loves proofs. Sometimes he'd go through only proofs, avoiding using real numbers, which isn't helpful in the long run. He also doesn't always explain what he's doing. He'll just go from step 1 to step 5, assuming we already know 2-4. A lot of my learning had to come through friends and my TA. The textbook was helpful. Tests were fair

Honestly the textbook and my knowledge from AP Calc in high school helped me more than this guy. His tests only measure how well you can handle difficult computations rather than if you understand the concept. My TA is what got me through. Use the textbook for examples, they do a better job than him!

Study guides hardly reflect the test, lectures are done the same day the homework is due, Sharad's handwriting is illegible, he never explains what he's doing in his examples, and any examples he does provide barely help when you do the hw. Sharad is also INCREDIBLY rude and condescending during office hours. Avoid him if you can!!!

Dr. Chandarana is not the teacher you want to have if it is your first time learning Calc or if you want to actually learn Math. He's not really engaged with the students & his teaching consists of writing his examples on the board (his handwriting isn't good either). You WILL have to teach yourself outside of the class. TAs don't help much either.

If you have had trig/precalc in the past you will probably be fine because you would have seen this before. Basically learn nothing from lecture, get assigned no homework, and have to do online math lessons called ALEKS which are irrelevant and time consuming. Tests are very heavily based off practice tests, so mainly study off of those. Good luck!

Worst professor I have ever had. His accent is tough to get used to and his handwriting looks like that of a two year old. He talks too fast and writes with his chicken scratch making lectures almost impossible to learn anything from. His midterms and finals are nothing like his practice questions so be prepared to be very angry. Do not take him.

I get extremely frustrated by the over complication and lack of actual practice problems in his lectures. Keep in mind I have already taken this class. After the first lecture I left very confused, only to later realize I already knew everything he went over, yet I had never seen it explained in the way he did. That trend hasn't changed.

Don't even go to lecture, you'll learn more from teaching yourself than watching him do proofs on the board without explaining what concept or method he is using. Tests are difficult.

The worst professor I've ever had- came out knowing less than when I started. He scribbles on the board all class & then expects us to have a super-power that would enable us to read his hieroglyphics AND understand it. Take this class if you wanna never go to lecture and teach yourself.

The lectures don't seem to be worth the time. It's more beneficial to skip the lectures and read the online textbook. You're basically teaching yourself the criteria so I strongly recommend that you read the book. The practice exams and quizzes are nothing like the final exam so be prepared to be very angry.

He's a horrendous lecturer. Does not explain any concepts whatsoever & has awful handwriting, making it nearly impossible to read what he writes. I've learned more from the explanations provided on Chegg than from this guy. Would say only about 40 people show up for lecture each period, so this alone shows how bad he is. Exams & HW are easy, though

Comment:
He is kind of hard to understand, but just go to the discussions. He bases his lectures on giving many examples and it is kind of confusing. If you don't understand the topic, you won't understand the examples he puts up. Homework is online and is very easy; you literally get to try as many times as you want. Study old quizzes before the test.
