Comment:
Steve's a good guy, but his classes aren't easy. The classes I've taken with him have given me the lowest grades of my college career. He marks VERY hard, but also leaves comments on how to improve. The lectures themselves were excruciatingly boring. Bottom line: take his class if you want to improve your writing, and don't care about your GPA.

I took this class because Steve taught so well on this style in Eng 107. He also showed how valuable work shopping is for writers. There was noticeable improvement in my writing from every course I took with him. This class was one of my favourites.

Steve made this required English class as interesting as it could be. He promotes student interaction and debate which develops critical analysis in a tangible way. He is very approachable and encouraging, yet he does not mark easy. He is very good at critiquing work. My essay writing improved with his teaching style.

Steve was excellent at teaching Intro to Creative Writing. He was great at facilitating workshops which made me feel connected and supported by other students. He is very encouraging and has a casual manner in the class, but marks your work as an English teacher. He has an editor's eye and brought the best out in my writing.

Steve was pretty good. Interesting reads, the class was really young, so I found that he got frustrated with the younger students often. Had to write lots of essays. He did get boring after 3 hours though.

I found Steve to be a great prof. He brought in interesting stories and novels for us to read and was fully aware and helpful in class discussions and prepping for the exams.I didn't have too much interest in the course before, but I think that it grew on me because of his involvement in the class.

Steve is a decent guy. the course in question was kind of boring and easy to get through. he does bring in some of his own material to class, sometimes, which is alright, i suppose. i just sometimes got the feeling he wasn't into what he was teaching. he's a nice guy but i just didn't learn a whole lot.

I took 107 with Steve. I really liked that class because it gave us non-traditional types an english class that wasn't boringly academic. 207 is looking even better. Especially like the multimedia stuff. Steve works hard to keep it fresh, lots of interesting activities.

I agree with the remark on his sensitivity, but I don't dignify it. Doubtless, the guy likes to think he IS some of the poets he teaches, but if he'd rather write poetry or talk about himself than teach, he should probably keep out of the classroom.

When critiquing instructors, its important to remember that they are people too. Steve is a sensitive and creatively gifted guy. With the temperament he has, the pain he has been through in his life sometimes shows, but is that bad? Respect him.
