She covers an extraordinary amount of material in a very short time; do not skip, and be vigilant with notes. Be outspoken, but respectful; she likes participators, but don't overdo it. If you have tech problems with the class website, you're on your own. Exams are essay-driven; beware taking this class with other writing-heavy courses.

You should never miss class unless dying. The class moves fast, you WILL be behind if you miss. Taking notes is essential. Also look forward to a 8 page research paper. She is helpful but also has a smart sassy mouth. Tread softly.

Absolutely loved taking her classes. I got along great with her because she was a fellow Whovian (HINT HINT). The class is definitely challenging, but it's a 400-level class, so you can't expect it to be easy. Do your work, take notes, ask questions, and you'll be fine.

Disrespectful and dismissive. Dr. Latta is unresponsive to students' needs and consistently treats them without respect. She is also frequently unavailable during posted office hours, almost as if she's avoiding student contact.

Very friendly outside of class, but I feel like it's an act - never responds to emails (but will if you're her pet). Subject matter was extremely difficult, high density, and high volume. Doesn't always highlight things clearly so it's hard to know what's important. Reasonable grader, if you can manage to get the work done to her standards.

Dr. Latta is a tough and demanding teacher - true. However, you will be hard pressed to find a professor who cares more about student learning and progress. She recognizes hard work and effort, and she is demanding because she knows her students are capable of excellence. That being said, she's not unforgiving or unreasonable.

Dr. Latta is an extremely difficult teacher. She assigns an extensive amount of reading with as many as 4 textbooks. Some material is never covered in class, but you must know it for online quizzes and exams. Do not skip this class, you will suffer for it. ENG 310 & 410 are the hardest classes I have taken at ISU. Expect to write a 10 + page paper. These classes are requirements for all ENG majors, so do your best. Take notes, do all the reading, & don't skip class.

Knows her stuff. However, she is still angry at the profs she had& is taking it out on her own students. DO NOT BE LATE TO THIS CLASS & DO NOT SKIP!She doesn't take anything late & it's very fast paced,so if you miss you'll never catch up. The semester gets better as it goes, so does she. Read, practice, and pray! haha FORM A STUDY GROUP!

I found her to be slightly bi-polar. She would act nice, but somehow her niceness seemed to hide an anger. She is too obsessed with on-line things to a point where it is ridiculous. I hate the fact that I have to take another class with her.

Overall, she's a good teacher and a pretty easy class. Can come off a little rude at times. DO NOT be late to this class..won't accept an assignment even a minute late. Makes you do a 8-10 pg paper that is pretty brutal.

This was a really hard class. I'm surprised I ended up with an A, I was sure this class was going to ruin my GPA with a B. I would skip it if possible. She is kind of rude to students.

Dr. Latta is a great professor. She makes you think about the answer yourself rather than telling you what to think. The class is difficult, but as long as you come to class and take notes, it's not too bad. I got A's in both classes, and I would take another class with her. She is also a helpful advisor.

With difficult subject matter, it's important for your students to know what the hell you're talking about. With Dr. Latta, the responses of "I don't know, you tell me" following every student question becomes frustrating. However, in her defense, she is a fair grader.
