Seems intense at first but she really knows her stuff and expects high standards. Challenging but worth is for a writing intensive. Read a couple plays (sparknotes) and 3 papers/ 2 essay tests. Expect to do the work but if you put in the effort she respects you for it. Interest in subject before class helps.

Dr. Gossett tries to be a nice prof but fails miserably. She is very demeaning and mean. She likes to think she is always right and she treats her students like they are dumb. She seems to pull grades out of the sky and assign them. Stay away.

She is a wonderful professor, I loved her class. You read one play a week and then have a quiz. 2 papers. Midterm and a final. Standard for English classes, not too much work. quizzes are easy if you read. Definitely worth it for English majors who want to learn. ((no make up quizzes))

Difficult to get used to, she may seem insensitive in class because she would harshly criticize what you say. In person, though, she is really nice and supportive. Always go to see her about papers. Does not reward creativity; papers must be clear, organized, and to the point above all else. Class covers a lot of material, with in-depth quizzes.

I hated this class at first. She is rude, condescending, and sometimes outright mean. However, I have never learned so much from an English class. Being an education / english major, I know I will be able to teach Shakespeare because of this class. Don't take this unless you're serious about it. She makes Shakespeare your life. Be ready for work!

Dr. Gossett is a very knowledgeable person. She can teach you anything you ever wanted to know about Shakespeare. I took this class because it was Writing Intensive & I had a good background of Shakespearean works. I really enjoyed reading 6 plays and learning interesting things about them. Requirement: 3 papers, 6 Reflections, Midterm & Final

This professor is a very tough grader. Most of her comments on my revised paper were suggestions that contradicted what we talked about in office hours or things she never bothered to mention to me. She doesn't seem willing to help you as a student become a better writer, only focused on the criticisms she could give. Don't take the class.

This women is insufferable. She is rude, condescending and quite frankly, uninspiring. I got an A, so its not about hard work. Its that her standards are unachievable, her respect for her student's intelligence is at an all-time low, and she never lets class out on time! She completely ruined my love for Shakespeare.

When I read Dr Gossett's information when signing up for 326, I figured I could handle it. Even though I have an A, this has been one of the worst English classes I've taken (and I'm an English major!) DO NOT TAKE HER. She grades unnecessarily hard and she doesn't give any explanation WHY. She's also the most condescending person I've ever met.

Dr. Gossett is a fantastic professor; however, she was a very tough grader and definitely messed my GPA up. I enjoyed the class, but students have to understand that she teaches at the collegiate level. There are definitely no hand outs in this course. So, expect to read the plays, proofread papers and attend class.

she's a tough grader. you must spend a lot of time on your papers. proofread it and make sure you have a clear thesis. besides that, she's ok. you get quizzes for every play you read. class sometimes gets boring, but you get to watch clips of the plays in class, and you do get to go to a play at navy pier. it was fun.

Dr. Gosset is incredibly knowledgeable and she really enjoys what she is teaching. It's true that she is a tough grader, but it's only because she knows that you're smart enough to do well in her class as long as you put in the effort. I learned a lot from her. Also, her classes all go to the Shakespeare play on Navy Pier.
