The subject was really intersting and we covered a lot. The final project was pretty great, in that you learned a lot about whatever topic you wanted. It took a really long time for papers to be handed back but he's a really good teacher.

Gallagher is great! He's a lot of fun to listen to and is very passionate about the subject. The class isn't super easy, but it isn't very difficult either. If you pay attention and do the assignments, you shouldn't have any issues. He has a way of explaining things so that I remember them clearly. All around a great a guy and professor.

He was an awesome professor. If you read the stuff and try hard, you'll be ok. He made 8:10 in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays fun.

Tom Gallagher is a nice guy, but in my experience with his Soc100 class, his heart just does not seem to be into it. He's obviously a bright guy, just dispassionate, at least with his intro course, which entirely lecture-driven. I talked to him a few times outside class and had decent conversation with him.

I agree w/ the others that he's boring; pretty hard tests (multiple choice/essay); talks about the Amish a ton; doesn't assign written hw; neither a hard grader nor super easy grader; there ended up being like 1 quiz (syllabus listed many); in my experience, u can get away w/slacking on the reading & still get a B;easy 2 find (in his office a lot)

He was a very dry and old-school teacher, I ended up liking the book and topic of sociology a lot more than him.

I had him 20 years ago - and his anecdotal obsession was the trukese. he argued with an 'older' woman in class (I'm now the age she was) about women and sociology, which is probably a separate class at UC.

Prof. Gallagher was the most unorganized prof i have ever had. Claims that sociology cannot revolve around anecdotal information, yet uses his stories of when i was in micronesia and the Amish to make his point. He is worthless!
