Spare yourself and don't take this guy. I never thought I'd actually meet a professor this useless. If you try to ask questions or talk to him about anything, he just makes nasty threats and accuses students of mental illness. His test materials come from the boring texts and obscure things he mentions for a few seconds. Rambles a lot too.

Uses outdated material Mostly old movies. I got an A on the midterm and went to almost every class, thought I did well on the final but somehow got a B- in the class. Prof is rude and arrogant and the class is boring. Hes too old to be teaching IMO.

How is he not easy? Yes, on his tests there is material not covered in class, but they are in true or false form and all the answers are true. He's very old and lectures are very roundabout, but important an interesting nonetheless. The guy has been everywhere and done everything so it's nice to learn from actual experience.

This guy accused me of having an emotional problem and told me to go to the counseling center. I guess he thought he was an MD. Most worthless prof ever and the people i contacted for help at mason thanks for not helping me at all, had to drop and pay to take another class cause this guy denied me taking mid term and you guys want donations hahaha

Worst professor I've honestly ever had. I have repect for the life he has led (obviously interesting and purposful), but this man should NOT be teaching. His exams are ridiculous (half the info on them is NEVER covered in class or in any of the text). He is agressive, intimidating, rude, and completely unapproachable.

HORRIBLE. he is rude and condenscending.Beyond senile. Constantly brought up VA tech.Is unapproachable and unwilling to work with students.All we did was watch movies;from about 1980. Doesnt cover %90 of the material thats on the exams but expects you to show up to class.Insane amounts of reading with no guidance as to what to study 4. AVOID!!!!

Haha this guy is as old as the dirt this University is built on! He doesn't remember if what he is asking on the exams was taught in this or previous classes. He is nice if you play by his rules and show up to class...his midterm is pretty much the same test as the final. Oh and if you dont know the answer 90% of the time it is TRUE

Attendance is mandatory. Maybe it's b/c he's been teaching so long, but he has absolutely no trust in his students. He also thinks we're idiots. A good portion of class is spent talking about his experiences rather than learning an unbiased op. The best thing about this class is the GMU history that gets filtered into the lessons on Island Asia.

I attended a few classes show up for the mid term and he denies me the chance to take test.Then proceeds to humiliate me in a conversation which I'm sure rest of class could hear.To him borrowing notes is a violation of the honor code? Worst professor I have ever had. A third of the material on the exams weren't even discussed in class so it's impossible to do well. He asked questions about a book that was not on the reading list! Don't bother emailing him, he won't respond. He threatens to turn everyone in for the honor code for about anything. Avoid at all costs.

Nice guy,knowledgeable and all BUT his exams are ridiculous. AND two questions on the exam were not covered in class but covered by a reading from previous year. He is so old and has taught the class so many times that he doesn't remember what he covered. HE is a nice, smart guy but a terrible professor!!!

This class is a joke; i could only learn by reading the text. He exhausts a 3 hour class by showing videos, going on mostly irrelevant tangents, and talking about his precious 783 page course outline. I also strongly suspect he made mistakes with his scantron test.
