I'm a Millsaps alum from 17 years ago, and had I evaluated Tim Coker right after graduation, my review would be quite different. However, since I graduated, I've had many other choral experiences, and none of them could compare to Singers. He's hard, expects a lot, and can be very demanding. And that is why Singers is so good. Thanks, Dr. Coker!

Dr. Coker is the most easy going choral conductor I have worked under! While he is incredibly demanding, he demands no more than any conductor. By strictly following a schedule that is adhered to he spares students from having to attend multiple unscheduled rehearsals. While he expects every second of the time you agree to spend in Singers to be spent on Singers (which is no different from what any other teacher demands), he does his best to ensure that students are given an amazing opportunity

Dr. Coker expects dedicated work and nothing less than a student's best effort. While at times this can seem tedious it is worth the hassle! Dr. Coker is a genius theory teacher who makes the information accessible and practical for developing musicians

Dr. Coker is amazing. He really knows his field, and i find him to be very compassionate and understanding. He jokes around in class, but always expects you to give 100%. He is always willing to go over something you didn't get or hold make up sessions when you miss class.

Although he can be very demanding of schedule, participation, and quality, Dr. Coker is a stellar conductor. News Flash: creating quality choral music is challenging and requires a lot of energy. Just because he isn't dumbing the work load down doesn't make him bad or unsympathetic.

From attending over Five Higher Levels of Education and through 12 years of high school, Tim Coker is the worst teacher I have ever had, I say that with all honesty, he is only concerned about clout, and making his name known at the exploit of anyone elses personal wellbeing.
