Tom Grissom is a joy to be in class with. His whole personality shines though. He is dynamic and interesting. He is a bit magical in his thinking and is really funny. I found this wonderfully refreshing. He seems to like his ideas more then new ideas. For a tip: in your papers just repeat back what he said in class and you will get a good grade.

As one can tell from these other ratings, Tom is fantastic. I took his Faulkner class, the last of my undergrad career, and it was amazing. His lectures, the material, the autonomy he allowed his charges all bespoke a man of varied interests and talents and an ability to engage young and eager minds. My favorite professor ever.

Possibly the best teacher I've ever had. In both lecture and seminar, I hung on his every word. Somehow, he made a three hour lecture on Patent law the most fascinating class during my time with him.

One of the best professors I've ever had. A true renaissance man; Tom is a physicist, a poet, and a scholar. Gives very cohesive lectures and is extremely helpful to those who seek him outside of class. Unfortunately, he retired this year and won't be teaching this course again.

Mind-blowing lectures on a subject I used to hate! Great great teacher, makes theoretical physics accessible. He is very encouraging and interested in his students, writes a good detailed evaluation.

Having had Tom for both these classes, I can say the most notable feature of his is that he seems to know absolutely everything, not to mention great stories about physicists and writers alike. Work is easy, as long as you can read a book a week without falling behind.

Tom was easily the best teacher I've ever had. He had a unique approach to studying a single writer over the quarter. his class remains one of the few fond memories i have of evergreen, and about the only class i learned anything useful from. only drawback was that he was 'too nice' with his credits, giveing full cedits to everybody, including people who never showed up. suggest anybody with the opportunty take a literature class by him. love you, tom!!

I had Tom as a physics professor in America in the 20th Century and he was absolutely incredible as a professor. He listens. He makes time for students. He causes his students care about their work. Tom is passionate about literature and makes physics flow like poetry. He's a good archer, too.

Tom knows how to encourage a student's strengths and re-inforce their weaknesses. We were new at TESC together, and the ease he had with his students was phenomenal for a rookie prof. A couple years later, he had only improved. A true Renaissance Man.
