Comment:
Took her online. I'm an engineering major, gpa of 3.89, and this class might be my first C. I've taken online classes before, but never were the expectations so high, and SO unclear. She is not understanding, is apparently not a very fair and consistent grader, and the weekly assignments and tests can only be done well if you read the entire text.

I took the online self-paced course at Texas State. Read the syllabus 10 times - it's confusing. The papers are pretty much the hardest and biggest part of your grade. Tons of reading too. TIP: Before you start reading, have the exam prompts on Word. As you read write down/copy paste notes and facts pertaining to the prompts. Skim unimportant stuff

I would see her twice a week and she would cancel class once every week over dumb stuff,So you were pretty much on your own, have to write 3 papers including the final,800 minimum word essays, offered extra credit, homework every week everything is online, you have to read but it wasn't so hard,She was rude when it came down to office hours

I would not recommend this professor for online. She does not respond promptly to emails. There is no way of knowing your grades until she sends out grade reports every 3-5 weeks by email. Her instructions are not clear on assignments. There are 3 "exams" that are essays. Tough grader. To say the least, I dont know why TXST keeps her around.

I took her online class and she seems like a nice person, but she is not a good online teacher. You don't have access to your grades except when she send out "Three week reports" and her assignments are not very clear. Also, her course syllabus is extremely confusing. I don't suggest taking her. Find someone that is more clear on what they expect.

She is not a bad teacher when it comes to the actual subject matter, she's bad at communicating. She never gets back to you at the time she says she will, the first half of the semester she was very available. As the semester went by its like she lost interest in the class. Easy class, difficult teacher to deal with.

She started the semester off really well & was very communicative. But after the 1st test, it stopped. Still waiting for grade that was promised 2 weeks ago; has to be reminded to put up quizzes. She seems very nice & helpful, possibly spread too thin wseveral on & off campus classes. Tests are easy if you read - mix of multiple choice & essay.

Tons to read (30+ page chapters, essays, historical docs). No mail tool to contact other students. Tests are 3 parts: Mult choiceFill in blank & 2 300-400 word essays by memory. Takes away ALL online resources except book during testing periods. Quiz and Mindtap activity each week (easy). 1 writing assignment. Very time consuming online class.

For a freshman general requirement course the amount of work is tremendous! It's also very difficult to wade through the amount of information provided and try and organize yourself. Also, if you communicate with her and she is mad/angry, you will know it through her rude emails, no social tact.

I took this course in the Spring and really enjoyed it. Compared to other online courses this class requires a lot of assignments but it is well worth it and still easy compared to other online courses. I am so glad that I took this online and not in person. Such an easy class and she does a great job at explaining what she wants out of you!!!!

The homework is not hard, but there was quite a bit of it. The Exams...well, they were a different story. Unless you spent a LOT of time studying, prepare for low C's on exams. Expects essays to be written without notes, but with exact details. While if their was only one prompt this wouldn't be bad, but with 1/3, ain't fun. Do not recommend.

Exams are easy beucase she tells you ahead exactly what is going to be on the exam (essay questions) but she does treat college students at second graders level and the number of different assignements are overwhelming.

Worst class ever! I had a 4.0 last sester, I won't this semester because of this course. Plan on memorizing the entire book AND know the reason behind ALL historical decisions and motivations. I DO NOT recommend this course!

This is teacher is by far one of the most difficult teachers I've ever encountered. I recieved a 4.0 last semester and probably won't get another due to her wild expectations. The online course with its strange convoluted deadlines don't help. I wouldn't recommend this teacher.

By far one of the most difficult classes I've taken. She expects perfection and much more than a basic understanding of historical events. I received an A but I had to work extra hard and was stressed out all semester. I don't recommend taking her class unless you are extremely self motivated.

Had to drop this course because it was WAY too much work and too difficult. She expects you to know what a master's student would probably know. So much memorization, you'd have to be a robot to retain so much information. Extremely difficult to earn an A so don't bet on it. I don't know why her easiness rating is so high because she is NOT easy!

I took the online section and it was great! I was homeschooled so this class was a great reminder of why I enjoyed self-driven learning combined with the assistance of a proffessor who know's the information. This class is a great break from the lectures I've become too familiar with.

One of the most difficult classes I've taken, not only because of the professor but because it was online. Profesor Etienne-Gray gets an attitude when asked questions via email and doesn't tolerate ANYTHING other than perfection and 100% commitment from the students even though its an online class. Be warned...

This is supposed to be the class to learn about teaching in the social studies content area. It is completely useless and she doesn't do much of anything. Lessons are pointless and it's all online but there is so much it's difficult to find everything. She doesn't even provide much guidance. Unfortunately you can't avoid this class, lame
