This was an introductory programming class and I have a background in programming. Big mistake taking this class. It was extremely difficult because professor "MAC" made it that way. There were no lectures outside the book, just a maassive onslought of busy work that had convaluted requirements. Condecending to students and full of himself.

Extremely convoluted instructions, which in my opinion were not necessary for this class. Assignments include every single exercise in the book. Very nitpicky about the number of words for each conference participation (min of 400-500) for innitial post...so be prepare to write. Lots of work so plan accordingly.

Wow. Where to begin. Don't ask questions because he can't answer them and then hides behind the "read the book" excuse. Piles on TONS of work that he, by his own admission, doesn't expect everyone to complete. Even worse, he is quite condescending. If you don't agree with his view of the world of computing and its future he will fail you.

Tremendous amount of work. I spent almost all Saturday and Sunday at my computer trying to complete all of his tasks. To be honest, it is absolutely ridiculous that he gets away with giving us so much work. But if you dont believe me, than you take this class with him. You will regret it... trust me.

Professor McLaughlin is zealous in his enthusiasm for teaching and expectations of his students. If you have the time, really want to learn the subject he's teaching, and are not taking any other classes, his class would be excellent as he's a great teacher. However, he expects graduate level work from undergrads and assigns lots of busy work.

One of the toughest classes I have taken. It was a 1 week intensive class. He managed to assign all work that would be done for an entire semester. Spent up to 4 hours a night doing homework. Do NOT take this class without a programming background. Mac was in the military and it shows... he is tough and does not care about overloading the work!

Man this guy is on some serious stuff. He assigned a lot of superphilous work...totally unnecessary. First day he said that he didn't care too much about whatever else you had going on because his class is what mattered to him. No empathy and understanding that we are all working adults with families. This guy totally stressed me out.

Totally agree with other raters. This guy made class way too hard. Class was a 1-wk intensive course and we got 3-5 hrs worth of HW each night. A lot of unnecessary busy work was also given out. Stay away from this guy!
