Comment:

I had Parsons for 3D & it's not like other classes. He gets all of your supplies for you. Since he isn't much of an art guy critiques you can do what you want with projects. He wants you to learn more "practical" things like carpentry & working in a shop. He talks about his own business a lot, but he's a helpful, kind guy. Fun class.

His idea of teaching students the principles and elements of design is to hand out a study sheet for a final exam, have you make a technical drawing of a desk, and do gradeschool-esque exercises out of a graphic design workbook. All this while he drones on about his carpentry business and how many wealthy clients he's had.

Wow I learned NOTHING in my 2D course with him. He talked every class about his job or family, it drove me insane! I wanted to learn, the guy isn't a bad person but he is more of a counselor than a teacher. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN. You won't.

i LOVED parsons. amazing and inspiring professor. yea he talked a lot but he gave great meaningful lectures and wasn't harsh on attendance or handing things in on time. loved this class, take him.

I took WP's Energy & Power class in 1980/81. What a blast learning about power transmittal and what is now called "green technologies", building both flat panel and parabolic solar thermal collectors, learning wind energy, and knowing a turbocharged, 4 cylinder diesel was the best ratio of power/efficiency in a vehicle at the time. All the best WP!

This was the worst classes I have ever taken. All he did was give us printouts simple designing instructions with shapes or patterns. Nothing challenging. He also talks about his business,A LOT, and I learned nothing about 2D design techniques at all. It was a waste of time to go and listen to him talk about his money. No fun, take someone else.

What?s ?staggering? is how little this professor knows about ID. Talks mostly about politics and statistics in all of his classes, design class or not. Remember he doesn?t know anything about design so make sure to impress him with graphs.It?s not that he?s not an easy professor; rather his grades are randomly picked from a hat.

He's a nice guy, but talks about himself and his business way too much. This class was seemingly real easy and I always did my projects on time, but I ended up getting a B anyways. He always gave me good critiques and I always worked hard on the projects, so I thought I was definitely going to get an A. Grading criteria should be much more clear.

It's kind of like a shop class. He gives you 4 projects for the whole semester and let's your work at your own pace. I mean, he literally lets you work on your projects the entire time every class. Oh, and get used to him saying "DUH" "WHATEVER!" and talking about his Cabinetry business. Really awesome down to earth guy though. TAKE HIM!

Come on Winfield Parsons is the nicest guy, great teacher and would do anything for his students. Sometimes a bit carried away with Parsons Cabinentry and off topic. He talks a lot but hey some teachers dont even acknowledge students so its a nice change.
