This is the worst class I have ever taken. Not only is the outlines and speech formats you have to do perfectly are unclear but they are also awkward and pointless. Her attitude is the worst and she gives off racist vibes towards white people. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

Professor Simmons wasn't my favorite teacher this semester. She basically over-complicates the process of public speaking, and her directions aren't always clear. She only allows 1 unexcused absence. You will do 4 speeches, 1 of which is a group project. Sometimes talks about herself too much.

My least favorite professor all year. Not clear in what she wants in assignments, and she talks about herself so much. I dreaded going to this class every single time. There's plenty of other speech professors at Montclair that I would rather take.

Professor Simmons is crazy, needless to say. However, her craziness is what keeps the long, boring lectures alive. Some of the kids in my class complained about her grading, but it was quite obvious they did not try, prepare, or follow the format. Follow the formats for the outlines and speeches, and you'll do great! Take her!

Prof. Simmons is great. Follow her format and sample outlines and you'll get an easy A. Her lectures can be a little long and boring, but it all prepares you for your speeches. Take her! If you follow her format and do exactly as she does (her samples) you will pass no problem.

She was unhelpful to say the least. Powerpoint Queen Yolanda Simmons is a megalomaniac with a bad attitude and insanely hard grading criteria. She seems like a sadist who just wants to prove that even though the only course she could teach was an awful public speaking class, it wasn't going to be easy. So happy I'll never have to see her again.

Even though this was a GenEd class, I've learned from her than anyone else. She is very nitpicky and wants things done a specific way - as long as you follow her instructions and do the work you'll be fine. FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES! She was awesome and her class structure taught me a lot not only about the subject but with overall work ethic.

If you follow the format for speeches exactly how Yolanda shows you, you'll get good grades on every speech. Your entire grade is based on format. Follow it and you're good to go. There is only one paper and its only two pages long; guaranteed A. Just practice your speeches, follow format and this class is a super easy A!

If you can, avoid taking her class! You would think a gen ed speech class would be easy but not her class. She is the most nitpicking professor I have ever had. You can get an A but only if you really really work hard. Way too much work for just a speech class. Do not take her class!

wonderful professor. She talks a lot but it makes the time go by quickly. No tests other than the midterm. Her final was even optional. I would definitely recommend her if this is not your major because I learned absolutely nothing but the class was easy.

She did her best with this required GenEd class. To do well in her class, follow her guidelines exactly. Her grading system was baffling. Even she was confused by it. Nice lady but this was a stultifyingly insipid class. I'm glad it's over and out of the way. The mandatory attendance is ridiculous. This is college, not high school!

Midterm, she gives some review for it but there was nothing on the midterm about it.Never paid attention in class, she gets to be very annoying. class is not that hard but she gets very annoying. you will hate your life when you think you have to go to class

This professor is really nice and fun! She's very helpful when you have questions, etc. but not so helpful when need help forming ideas for your speech topics. However, she does take her time grading your assignments and speeches and thus, her comments are very well thought out and effective. I would highly recommend taking her!
