Love this prof. So funny, understanding, almost always lets class out early because the weather is bad or because its so nice! Textbooks are just novels you read for your TA classes but other than that, you don't really have to participate and his lectures are very interesting. I learned a lot about the connection between humans and animals.

Animals & Society is a great class!! 3 papers, discussion, and easy quizzes almost every class (just for attendance). He's hilarious and does his best to make class fun. He doesn't post lecture slides so you can't miss more than 3 classes. Take this class if you can go to class, write decently and want around an A-

Literally an amazing teacher. Very straightforward in terms of grading & requirements. All you have to do is show up at class and discussion sections which is easy because he is so funny and personable and just a real joy. Only 3 papers which are extremely easy &straightforward. Quizzes at end of class that are easy. Take a class w/him if you can!!

Dr Fan really cares for his students. Does not expect too much but still expects participation, very funny, no exams but a final paper of at least 17 pages. Is also readily available outside class and gives good tips. Really does not want to see his students drowning. Would like to take any classes by him again. Helpful & caring; recommended prof.

I took HIST284B with Dr Fan last semester, and it was a great experience. Grade was determined by 3 papers and discussion sections, no exams. Pop quizzes most days, but they're extremely easy. Essay requirements are clear, easy A if you attend lecture. Dr Fan has a good sense of humor and seems to genuinely care about his students. Loved him!

Dr. Fan is fantastic, all around a well equipped professor with an understanding of his students course load beyond his class and extremely accommodating. Senior seminar was great, no tests, one paper 10-15 pages and a presentation, most likely will not keep you for the full 3 hours. All in all a great choice.

Amazing professor; he cares about his students and makes lectures interesting. Pop quizzes are easy, and the papers aren't too bad as long as you do the readings. Definitely take his class

This class is an easy A. He gives pop quizzes for attendance mainly every lecture, but they are the easiest quizzes you will take in your life. Discussions with TAs are pointless, but attendance is mandatory. Three papers pretty much make up your grade, but hopefully your TA is an easy grader. Overall solid choice for a class.

This is perhaps the easiest history seminar in terms of volume of reading and writing. Professor Fan is passionate and hilarious and most importantly a easy grader. Grade is based on a 15-page paper. Finish your work in a neat and tidy manner and you get a satisfactory grade.

Funny professor and makes the class enjoyable. Only has 3 take-home essays which are easy. He gives pop-quizzes almost every class for attendance. Discussion is a waste of time and not helpful at all. Easy A if you go to lecture and take notes (which are needed for the papers)

Professor Fa-Ti Fan is a fantastic professor. Lectures are fun, as he has a good sense of humor. His lectures could contain a little more information, but he does a great job of painting an overall picture of the lesson and inspires you to learn more. He has very clear grading criteria and is helpful in office hours. Overall the course is not hard

I've had two courses with Fan. Very interesting and stimulating lectures. A little unorthodox in what he taught and how he taught. Not difficult but opened my eyes. Definitely one of my favorite profs.

Prof. Fan is genuinely a nice man and has a great sense of humor. However, he is simply not a good history professor. His lectures are not engaging and he teaches at a high school level, which is unusual for a Binghamton class. I would not recommend him for history majors/minors, only for those looking for an easy Gen-ed class.

Gives pop quizzes that are multiple choice and even if you haven't paid attention will get 100 on them- he uses them for attendance. Really funny professor, sometimes hard to understand his accent. To write the second midterm and final- read the books so you can answer questions effectively.

Amazing professor. So funny, and he offers a lot of compelling insight in environmental history. Don't worry when he says that he'll have a pop quiz every week. He uses it more or less to take attendance, and the quizzes are so easy and hilarious that you'll actually look forward to them.

Such an awesome guy. Loved him. The class was super easy so long as you took lots of notes in lecture. He is hilarious and had the whole class laughing a lot. His accent can be a little hard to understand certain words, but definitely manageable. I would love to take another class with him, and definitely recommend anything he teaches
