One of the easiest classes I've taken at UofL. The grade was only based off of 4 exams but she gave out study guides a couple of weeks before each exam. Attendance isn't mandatory, however she goes over every question on the study guide during class. If you miss classes, all the study guide answers are from the book. She also gives extra credit.

Dr. Purifoy is a great person, and it's clear that she's both knowledgeable and passionate about her field. Most classes are spent watching videos instead of lectures, but things that are talked about will be put on tests. Textbook heavy, she speaks with a lot of jargon. Very subjective grader in regards to papers, even if you're a good writer.

Professor Purifoy is a really nice lady and really cares about what she is teaching. She does tend to drag on or get off topic. Thought this class would be an easy A, but does require a TON of reading.

Dr. Purifoy explained the ideas from the text well, and you can tell she genuinely knows about the subject. Only three tests, but she gave study guides, extra credit opportunities, and curved the exams. Lectures can be boring, and while not mandatory, I would highly suggest attending them, as she shows videos that will be asked about on the test.

Dr. Purifoy covers a lot of ground in the basics Anthropology, with the help of a good textbook, for some one who gets distracted easily. These distractions are curiosities that hold interest to like-minded anthro majors. Class (sometimes videos) and study guides are helpful!

Very fun and interesting class. We watched a lot of videos which is fun in a class about primates. She asks for our input and opinions often and engages a lot with students. I did have to read my book a bit but it wasnt bad. Three exams with short essays; I like the grading style. No busy work or pointless assignments.

Love this professor. Very sweet and fun. She is not overly serious and strict; her classes are like a big group discussion. This religion class was very interesting and she left a lot of decisions over material up to the class. There are three tests and part of the grade fir each is a short essay. I like this grading style but know some do not.

I really really like this professor. In fact I took her two more times after this course. She is incredibly kind and caring and does not take herself too seriously. I like classes that only grade off of tests so I did not mind that. She does not take attendance but I would go to class.

Purifoy only grades on three exams, so you need to study a lot for it. If you aren't interested in anthropology or don't know what it is, DON'T take this course. I was so bored out of my mind that it was hard to learn. Purifoy also goes off on tangents and often doesn't talk about much of what will be on the test.

Nice lady but she makes no sense whats so ever when teaching wouldn't recommend taking if you don't want to spend 16 hours in the library a week trying to comprehend the book.

The entirety of this class was rough. She does not have the best teaching approach. You basically have to teach yourself from the book if you want to pass. She did however pull through in the end with extra credit and a curve.

I am majoring in Anthropology and this is by far the hardest class I have taken. The study guides do not match up with the exams. Attendance is not mandatory but she shows videos daily which will be questions on the exam. Sweet lady but she makes the class difficult.

3 exams and 3 papers. She doesnt do PowerPoints, everyday in class she shows videos of the Primates you will be tested over. She tells you what will not be on the test, but what she tells you not to read is actually on the exam so its confusing. She gives out an study guide but most things not listed on the study guide will be on the exam.

Frances is an amazing professor, but this class wasn't my favorite. She gives her students way too many opportunities to criticize her or what she's teaching DURING lectures, and it makes it so hard to even learn the material. 2/3 days of the week she shows movies. Tests are easy though and she offers a makeup exam at the end if you bomb one.

Tests are the only grade. Buy the book because you'll need them to do the study guides she gives out (which are pretty comprehensive), especially if you don't come to class. often shows videos during class which will be questions on the test.

I took ANTH 308 with her - the class was very easy, and she knew the subject well. It consisted of 3 exams and 3 short papers. Nothing else was due. The tests were easy, and the papers were easy as well.

Do not even bother going to class, it's seriously a waste of time. She gives 3 tests in which she sends out a study guide at least 3 weeks in advance of exactly what's going to be on the test. Fill out the study guide, look over it a few times, and you will do fine in this class. You do have to study but it is interesting material.
