Solid class, although be ready to read, take part in class discussions, and study. Dr. Antle is ready to work hard with students who work hard. Ask questions, ask for help, if you need it. He can seem intimidating at first, but is very willing to assist.

Be prepared to write at least four 8-10 page papers during this class and be prepared to read three to four complete books during this class. The class is taught more for doctorate-level students than someone who is simply needing elective credits, so be prepared for that. I would not recommend unless this is your only class for the semester.

Local and Kansas History - this class is A LOT of reading and writing. It was a tough course to take while working full time, having a family, and other courses. Stay up on the reading while looking ahead. Dr. Antle is a great resource - ask questions, let him proof your outlines, take notes, and tab your books for quotes to use in your essays.

Jay is a fantastic lecturer, but does pile on the reading. For this class, we had some SUPER simple online quizzes that were 3-5 questions long with about 10 minutes to complete. The reading tends to be very dry and long-winded, but is still valuable information pertaining to the course. And participation in discussions is super helpful.

This man is a wonderful teacher. He knows his subject incredibly well, and is excited about it. He is great about getting the class excited and involved in the subject matter by instigating class discussions. As long as you keep up with the reading and pay attention, you will do great. As with any class, you have to do the work to earn the grade!

Although attendance is not mandatory, I would highly recommend attending every lecture because they help you to remember the information. There is quite a lot of reading (you will read through the whole book by the end of the semester) but not bad if you keep up with it. A lot of work for this class, so not for you if you want something easy.

Tons of reading and lectures. tests are 20 multiple choice ?'s and 2 essays that must be 1.5-2 pgs long. tests are almost impossible each one covers 7 or 8 chapters. also a 4pg website review-irrelevent to history. if you dont love history like he does its very hard. if you need this class take another professsor

Very knowledgable teacher that tends to teach alot more than the text offers, which is partly why he requires text reading. This Professor brings interesting information to the classroom, but he expects plenty out of a student as well.

Fun class with lots of info, but be prepared to do a LOT of reading, and a LOT of papers. Jay is very knowledgeable and has a passion for what he teaches. You have to attend class to keep up, and the class moves at a fast pace. He teaches this class different than Hist 140/141. Mid-Term & Final is take home essays about 4 pages (2 essays each test)

Good class - actually likes what he teaches - and yes, there are essays on the test but its college. Also, he shows some great clips including a hilarious DDT strip which adds some spice to the class. He doesn't just drone like many other history prof.

This is a learning communities course combing Comp II and US Hist to 1877 team taught w/ Broomfield. Both are very dedicated. If you do not want to work, do not take this class. However, it is challenging and Antle will do all that he can! Have fun!
