Holmen is about as straight forward as they come, explains everything with precision and detail. There are no surprises on the tests, the problems mirror the unit quizzes closely. No homework as it's all done in class. Quizzes are freebies since you get 60% just for showing up. His lecture style isn't the most exciting but he gets the job done.

Horrible professor. This class was frustrating to sit through. He jumps ALL over the place w/ examples &his chicken scratch on the chalk board is impossible to decipher! Practically had to teach myself the material. The material isn't difficult, he just needs to learn to present/teach it better. He made this class more difficult than necessary.

I'm a Finance major, and it's a tough class, but once you realize the amount of effort you need to put in you'll do fine. Weekly quizzes, but you get a 6/10 for putting your name on it. No need to do the homework because he goes over the important ones in class. Office hours help. Your grade is based on 4 tests, quizzes, and 3 article summaries.

This class was a joke. Professor Holmen needs to learn how to use Excel for his lectures, and not chalk. I didn't miss any single class, did all the homework, got all points from quizes and articles summaries, BUT I lost probably a good half on theory questions on exams. I didn't have 6 more points for B-. 6 POINTS!!! That put me into C+. Very sad!

This class was very interesting. The professor was nice and his in class quizzes kept you on track. You got 6/10 just for your name and you ended up dropping 4 of them. I really hope they start an advanced cost class so I can take him again.

Does a lot of problems in class which is nice, except he never really tells you where he gets numbers or solutions; he just flies through them. An OK professor overall.

As long as you do all the suggested problems you should do well in the class. He gives you 6 pts just for putting your name on the Quiz. Curves all test to the Mean NOT the High score. Final was not as hard as the tests but it was cumalative. But to fail it you would had not paid any attention in class.

I suggest that you take this course if you're a Mktg. or Mgmt major. He talks fast and writes real fast but he doesn't take up the class time and lecture instead he goes through problems. If you do the assign problems in the book and take all the quizzes, you'll pass his class...I guarantee it!!!

If you are not an accounting major, then this is the only accounting class you will probably ever use in the real world! He told us today you have to really work at not getting at least a C (aka skip the final). On quizzes, you get 6/10 for your name! THE BOMB! Accounting very simplified.
