Super easy class as I attended less than 5 lectures, which includes the midterms and final. Did minimal readings and worked out just fine. Easy A as there are no clicker questions. Does not post slides online but has lengthy readings which a lot of students, including me, did not read.

Prof. Master is an interesting lecturer and is open to questions. As far as grades go, if you show up to class and do the readings you'll be fine. You must do the readings if you want a good grade. When the first midterm turned out to be too long he was responsive to our opinions and shortened the second midterm to a good length.

Professor Master is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. His lectures are a good start to introducing the concepts, however you will need to do lots of assigned reading (Expect 100 pages a week at least). Since this was HIST020W, we also had 3 essays, which were not particularly easy, but my TA was very helpful so it worked out!

Passionate but dry lecturer. Doesn't post (exact) slides online, and has tons of long readings. I found it hard to write essays on a subject (history) I wasn't very interested in, so definitely see your TA about your essays before submitting them to get the best grade possible. 1 midterm, 3 essays, and final.

Let the liberal indoctrination begin. I'd expect no different at a UC though. He can't complete a lecture without mentioning Trump or republicans. Mind you, this class is titled world history not "liberal propaganda". He uses his pulpit to bash American exceptionalism and praise socialism. UCR mandates that you take this class. Waste of my time UCR

Enthusiastic and extremely engaging lecturer, one of those profs that you want to respond to when he asks a question of the class. Lots of reading, but it's relevant and interesting. Rewards good writing technique. Attending class and reading are vital, do not procrastinate. Show some effort and you will be rewarded. Also applies to HISA 117B.

He was a decent teacher but he forces you to go to class by not posting slides on ilearn and by giving you specific info that you can only get from class. All midterms and finals are short answer and essay questions. You really need the sources book but not the text book.

This class is an easy A. Anyone who gets below a B is a complete retard. I basically BS'ed all my homework and term paper a couple hours before it was due and got A+'s on all of them. The test is long, but the study guide covers everything. Just regurgitate his lectures and you'll be fine. Go to class, it's quite interesting.

If youre taking HISTORY 120A, then Master might be your man. I cant comment on his other classes. They may be hard. But this history class is great. He stands up and talks the whole time. Like the previous reviewer said: just essays. His TA does not know how to grade papers. You do read a lot. He wont help you out of class. Id recommend him.

Too much reading required for breath requirement. Reading proved to be useless, as his test were hard and asked questions that could go both ways. Tricky questions about irrelevant information. Got all A's on all essays (3) and webposts/replies (6 of each), but got a D on the midterm and a C on the final even with the curve. Unfair testing.

I didnt read any of the books, and i only went to a few lectures and i got an A, and Hstory is not one of my best subjcts. the class is based on 4 essays, all easy to BS. the first three are only 2-3 pgs, but the last one is 7. i definitely recommend him for the slackers!! not time consuming at all!

I don't know what the other guy was talking about. This is totally a procrastinator's class. His short essays 2-3 pages! Come on!! I could do those in an hour. To me I find his lectures to be overly simplified. Just stick to the book and you'll ACE it.

Disorganized, hard to contact and somewhat aloof and distant, even during lectures. The only good thing was he agreed to change our final to take-home since it was a summer course.

Do not underestimate this course. He keeps the class average high, but that does not mean one will get the best grade. Fun and informative professor. Even though tests are only on cases, you need to know the rest of the history in the readings to supplement and do well on them. NOT a procrastinator's course.
