He is a very kind, intelligent, and light man. However, and no offense to him, but his lectures are the most boring lectures I've ever been to. I fell asleep many times in his class. He reads right off of his slides and it's the same thing everyday. Go to discussion days, that will help a lot. My TA was great.

Interesting class; nice professor. Discussions are easy points. No final. But, refer to the syllabus often! Keep up with the reading! Lots of it! The exams are hard; specific multiple choice and heavily based on the readings and lectures. This class is time-consuming and not an easy A. He will round you up if you do well on the 2 papers, though.

Personally, I thought all of the exams were easy--a weekend study session is all it takes to get an A. Focus only on the slides and specific portions of the textbook (namely, the ones he references while lecturing). He's a nice guy and a pretty standard professor (pedagogically speaking). Do attend lecture--he gives tips and hints on the exam.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! ANTH major and this is by far the hardest ANTH class I have taken. He doesn't even lecture on the material, just his own experiences, and the exams are OUTRAGEOUSLY difficult with material that isn't covered in lecture OR any of the textbooks. Even after going to every lecture and reading the books I still left exams crying.

This class was very easy! I didn't read the two books at all since the TA did a well job on explaining the main ideas of them but buy the humanities textbook. Lectures were very interesting but I recommend you sit in the front since he's kinda soft spoken. (you might fall asleep in the back!) Also there were 3 exams and 2 papers. No final exam.

He's such a sweetheart, but he's so boring, sometimes her rants about his research projects and his traveling rather than going over the material. Be ready to read everything on your own, starting with the first day. Discussions could be sweet if you have the right TA, I for one, had a TA that lacked experience and knowledge.

His lectures are very interesting and he occasionally speaks of his own field work. Make sure you take LOTS of notes and do all the reading even if there is a lot which there will be. Few exams and papers with plenty of time to complete them. Discussions can be interesting but only if you read.

There are two papers and three exams in this class. Pay attention to the lectures and record them just in case. Take notes to make it easier to study for the exams. Read all the assigned readings as a lot of the stuff in the book is not mentioned in his lecture and might be on the exam.

The test is a combination of the book and his lectures. Make sure you get the gist of the lecture. Write down the topic and what kind of examples*** that he gives about the topic. He is a very nice professor but has other things in mind other than lecturing. His lectures are him talking about this anthropological experiences in South America.

Don't pay attention to the slides just pay attention at every word he says. Write them all down, record them. If you take good notes then it's a very easy A. Discussion is very boring. There are some questions on the readings (textbooks) on the exams. Two papers. Long one based on interview and one visiting a museum. Has nice stories, good prof

I took this class on a whim, and I actually really loved it! It seems there's mixed reviews, but I enjoyed Professor Monaghan's lectures. Class is pretty easy if you go. Yes, write down what he says in lectures, it will be on the test, so will (some of) the book. Two projects worth 15% of your grade, but he gives you a lot of time to complete them.

He is so monotone and it's easy to get distracted in his class. He rambles about bull shiz and the second and third tests are hard. The two papers are extremely easy. I wouldn't take this gen Ed if I knew about it beforehand.

Confusing Lectures, not very organized. Extremely boring. Write down everything he says, even if its not on the powerpoint. Literally everything, even if he sneezes. 2 papers are easy. Exams are hard. Take notes in discussion, thats more specific material related to the book. Keep up with the readings, all that material is on the test too.

Lectures are extremely boring and very unclear. He has powerpoints for each lecture; however, they're very vague. The powerpoints don't contain any useful information for the exams. He talks about the slides, so you have to write down basically everything he says. Exams are extremely hard if you don't take good notes.

ANTH 101- Really nice guy, I didn't have to buy his book cause there was a PDF that was an edition lower for free. As long as you know how to take notes with out a power point and a person just talking , and reading the book on andyour own time, you will be fine. Test though will probably be a little be difficult. there's like no homework.

He's like a one-man public access channel. Really boring and just goes off, no power point or online notes just everything off the top of his head. Tests are hard, but the two papers are easy. I don't like how the TA's don't post the grades on blackboard. Take notes of everything he says including if he sneezes, cuz it'll probably be on the test.

I like the professor but class is usually boring. He is monotone, and he doesn't use a projector so you write down notes off the top of your head. He speaks continuously not taking a pause to stop for 50 minutes. First 2 tests are a bit difficult and final is not bad. Not a bad class at all.

Make sure you can take notes really fast. I really mean it seriously. Get multiple people to work together on the notes, its the only way to get everything in lecture. No powerpoints, not online notes. 2 projects, 3 tests, no final. Projects are 3/5 easy. tests, 5/5 if you review the lecture notes really well. He's basically average in my opinion

If you're foreign student, I highly NOT recommand this professor unless your English is very good. He speaks extremely fast and his exams are very detailed. If you don't take everything on lecture, you wouldn't get a good grade. Easy grade if your first language is English, hard as hell if you can't take notes or if your english is not too good.

Nice guy. Go to class, take notes, read a little of the book and exams will be very simple. No reason for you not to get an A.
