The one thing I liked about her was that she understood our position as students. That said, she grades appropriately and appreciates any effort you put in. But... she's pretty boring and I didn't necessarily learn a ton in her class. She moves very slowly.

Brilliant and fantastic professor who is so knowledgeable about what she is teaching. She is also a very caring person who does not assign a hefty load. I would recommend her strongly and she is truly a great professor - must take her if you are an English major!

She is fantastic. A total hippie. She played great music before class, and assigned interesting books. Plus, she grades like a dream: she isn't hung up on writing essays and sounding like a pompous fool like most English professors are. You can let your creativity fly in this class. Wish I could take it again! All around good vibes.

In all fairness, we had always heard she was great, and we clearly saw that potential this spring '11. Class was too large, grading erratically handled by an apparently too subjective TA (Manuel Betancourt sp?);no useful feedback & a distraction. A promising course that regretfully should've been dropped. We all wish professor had been in charge.

Thanks so much to the last few students! I love this professor. She is brilliant. The course is superb! The class, though, was too large. I am graduating this year and starting PhD program at Cornell, with a 4.0 until this course. I was shocked to see my grade;now I feel better to realize it was the TA, Mr. Betancourt's evaluation.DeKoven is great.

She's a lovely professor and person. The course was fascinating and brilliantly taught. The only downside is that it was too large and the grading now was done by the teaching assistant, who was not well-prepared for that task. He made everything unnecessarily complicated and unfair. She was great nonetheless.

I was disappointed this semester because the class was too large and the TA was not adequate.TA was miserable in the grading process, as per all. First we were told class too big for papers, then with little notice the final was just changed to non-open book.I still think she's great

Had her for 20th Century Literature. Clear, Helpful, friendly, Straightforward. Material was interesting (more or less). She grades leniently. Requirements are midterm, final, one paper, and attendance. You don't have to do all of the reading but don't slack too much. Show up and take notes. If you do you got an A.

Wonderful class. Really got everyone involved, responded to our questions and let the conversation go where it wanted to. 1 paper, open book midterm- not that serious at all- but you'll want to do the work! You'll learn as much as you put in, but I def suggest taking her.

Very nice, very easy. The class is mostly BS although if you pay attention she does have some really interesting readings of some of the texts. Definitely an ex-hippie. Plays music in the beginning of the easy class. Good class if you're not particularly interested in learning vast amounts of material and want an easy A.

Is very kind and smart. Relies a bit too much on class discussion, but that's just her relaxed way of leading the class. Knows that we're young and knows what it's like to be young, so feel free to skip. Take her in the spring.
