Comment:

Tries to make class fun but ends up feeling uncomfortable. Will target students with jokes coming close to improper for an instructor. For an intro class you learn nothing about theory, script writing or how to produce audio other than very basic board work (5 things in total). If this was a lab to a true 101 class that would be great.

He's laid back in the classroom and is very experienced. Even though the subject wasn't really interesting, it wasn't his fault. The book chosen for the class was boring and hard to understand at some points.

C'mon people give Prof. Hansen a break! He is a laid back teacher with a sarcastic witty sense of humor..either you get it or you don't if you don't he realizes that and he wont joke with you..he helps students a lot and has a lot of patience during high stress productions with amateurs this man deserves more credit!!

Tends to make the class feel awkward/uncomfortable with his weird sense of humor, but he knows what he's talking about when it comes to audio. Class can be rather unorganized and slow paced, spent several days just sitting around waiting to start productions.

He is not a good teacher in my opinion. Although I received a A in the class, he was very rude, and sometimes will yell and curse when you didn't understand something. I would not recommend

I had him for both Intro to Audio and Film App. Here's the thing: yes, he's cynical, try to find an Elec. Media teacher who isn't. Overall he's not a bad teacher. Just don't try to BS him. If you get on his good side you'll be fine. He's pretty nice to me because he liked the papers I wrote for Film. Stuff like that will make him appreciate you.

Take ANYONE else for this class. He's mean, his instructions and unclear and he makes fun of students for asking questions. One of my worst experiences as Eastern was in this class.

Basically, show up to all classes, participate and get on his good side, and you will get no less than a C. I have had him for many classes, and my grades get better each time. Bad thing, he shoots down your ideas a lot because he is stuck in his ways.

Nice guy! Didn't really do any refresher on the equipment though, and that made me stumble. The class has no form though, it needs a little more than just the same production over and over. The class focuses on CONTENT for all you media people. You NEED the book for the final, GET IT! Overall, good class!

One of the worst professors I ever had at Eastern. He made a lot of assumptions regarding someone's experience level with the equipment and if you didn't understand it the first time around, you would be made to feel like an idiot if you asked questions. But, God forbid you do something wrong. He yelled a lot and had an ill temper.

Come to Class!!!! He is not easy in the amount of work but it is mostly in-class work. So, you have to be there, or at least communicate with him if you are going to be out. I don't think that he is so much belittling, as other posts here say, as he just has a sense of humor that many don't get. I don't really think that he means any harm.

he definitely knows his stuff, but he seems to constantly belittle his students. i always felt like i was under attack in the class, and i was one of the better students. telecomm majors: if you can avoid him for this class, do it. if not, good luck. my advice? visit lab hours. that is all.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MR. HANSON WAS AWFUL!!!!! HE TREATS YOU LIKE YOUR 10, CANNOT FULLY EXPLAIN ANY ASSIGMENT AND HAS NO REAL CONNCTION WITH HIS STUDENTS. IF I EVER HAVE ANOTHER CLASS WITH HIM I WILL HAVE TO DROP IT!!!1
