Comment:
Father Bernardi's class requires you to come to every lecture for your benefit. Whatever is in lecture is on the exams. Homework are an aid for pop quizzes but also to help understand the material. Knows what he is talking about. Sometimes homework and readings were tough. EC given and curves. Manageable A in the class. Recommend strongly!

Comment:
Bernardi is absolutely unreasonable. He is condescending in class & office hours. His quiz content is on specific points from lecture or readings although he says he's not worried about the details. He will start answering questions while students are still talking resulting in irrelevant & unhelpful answers. Overwhelming amt of readings assigned.

Comment:
Do NOT take this professor! He is rude, condescending, and insulting toward those who do not share his religious beliefs. His daily quizzes, dull lectures, and difficult grading scale make the class much more difficult than a 100 level class should be. Additionally, you have to buy over 7 books. He is by far the worst professor I have had.

He is condescending and not helpful at all. There is a lot of busy work. Definitely not a 100 level class. The quizzes and tests are really hard even if you study. Lectures are disorganized and not relevant to quiz and test material.

Definitely not a people-person, but I like Bernardi. He looks at religion in a very scholarly way, and you'll learn A LOT. This is not a fluff religion course. He assigns texts like Victor Frankl and Flannery O'Connor, really interesting class.

Comment:
Catholicism was an excellent class. Fr. Bernardi is very passionate about his teaching, takes the class very seriously and expects his students to do the same. His class covers a lot of material, and is not "dumbed down" in any way. If you're a serious student then this class is well worth the work you have to put into it.

His catholicism class is hard. He tends to be conscending and he hates when people misunderstand things and ask stupid questions, but they aren't really stupid if you don't have a background in Catholicism. I would not advise taking him. I took religion all through high school and this is the worst class mostly becasue of him. The final sucks!!!!

His class is really hard! you have to post DB response before every class period, read all the handouts, four papers, an 8 page paper near the end of the semester, quizes every friday, etc. He's a nice man, but if you're looking for an easy class, don't take him.

Fr. Bernardi makes you really study for his quizzes and tests, but his enthusiasm makes up for it. He really makes you learn. I'm atheist and I totally got into the class. He's willing to help anytime, but attendence can be a problem. I would definitely recommend him!

Fr. Bernardi is a brilliant teacher. He wants his students to learn and is willing to help students if they just ask. This class in not easy but you will learn A LOT! There is a lot of work involved but its well worth it. This is one of the best classes I've had at Loyola. If you put in the effort, it will pay off. Highly recommended!

He intimidates most of his class and if you are looking for an easy A then this is definetly not the professor you should take. However if you want to actually gain a real understanding of world religions then I recommend this class. He bring a lot of guest speakers which adds a lot of cool insights into the class.

I would not recommend him as a teacher for intro to world religion. There is lots of work, lots of reading, and the tests are insane! Outside of class hes not that bad but in class hes a complete a*s and not understanding at all. Definitely would change classes if you have him!

His class is terrible. Which is really tragic because he is a great guy with a true passion for what he teaches and a wealth of knowledge on the subject. But his class is very poorly structured. The lecture material never matches up with the reading and there is an enormous amount of reading and busy work. It's hard to keep up and frustrating.

He is very nice one on one but does not come across that way in class. He tries to cover too much material but is trying to improve. Unless you are prepared for ALOT of work that seems high schoolesque don't bother!

Not hte best class. He explains things pretty well, but his quizzes cover a lot of material and you never really know what is going to be on them. the amount of history in the class is ridiculous. The class just wasn't what i expected.

I'm not sure why people don't like him. I loved him. He's very easy to get an A in even if his tests and quizzes are random. Do the reflections!!! it's soooo easy to write something & get an A. He's very enthusiastic and reflective.
