Professor Kapica was fantastic, she's a tough one and you definitely need to know the material to pass, but her teaching methods ensure that you will, so long as you listen in class.

She is the former chair of the department and was brought back out of retirement to teach a summer session. In a word: Phenomenal. She lectured without Powerpoints, answered nearly every question asked, went over mistakes made on quizzes and exams, and stayed after class to help some more. I failed Chem the semester prior. Not this time. Thank you!

Best chem teacher I had, I need to retake chem 1 because of a certain teacher, and I'm glad I picked professor Kapica. She's always willing to help her students at her office or at class. As long as you do your homework and pay attention, she won't get angry.

These reviews can be confusing with all the negatives and positives. So is she a good teacher or not ?! I'd say as a professor, she does her job. She teaches you in a way that you will understand the material. But it's her attitude that made me dislike the class. I found it hard to approach her. Overall, I'd recommend her.

She is an amazing professor! I attempted Chem 1 twice and failed both times at a previous school. I was so nervous to try for a 3rd time but I am SO glad I did. Kapica is amazing. She may seem tough around the edges but if you show her you care she'll be your best friend. So SO helpful and encouraging. I'm taking her again next semester for chem 2

I had no interest in this class prior to taking it.i was terrified of the word Chemistry. She takes so much time to make sure each and every student understands EVERYTHING we go over before we move on. Difficult material, but EXCELLENT professor.very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!!!

So she's intelligent. She doesn't expend any energy teaching. Blah. I really wanted to enjoy this class. But... Prof bored w/ subject, kinda rigid, aloof, self-absorbed. Stagnant. Prev posts fairly reliable. Ignore the glowing praise & low balls.

She knows her chemistry, for sure, but she is torturous to sit through. Couldn't stand her demeaner, boring, seems really disinterested in her students. Even though I came to class every time, and would ask questions one on one after class, she always looked at me like she never saw me before in her life. Aloof and negative attitude about life.

I was surely heading for a life bartending till I met Ms. Kapica. She turned my educational life around. She is hard no free hand outs. If you want to learn and show it she will help you to no end. You can't walk into her class cocky expecting an A. Ramblings are ALL about practicle application. PS I credit her for the DR in front of my name

She is a good professor and is pretty good at making things clear. But double check your grades on tests and such - there were several people in my class who she misgraded.

I had her for Gen Chem II lecture. I found her very hard to follow, as did many of my classmates. Although I am very interested in chemistry and have done well with it in the past, I didn't do as well in this course and it had a lot to do with not having much of a connection the prof. On the other hand, she's a very bright woman and a good admin

Don't use book. She gives you her own notes. She teaches material that you will only need. Really easy to understand. Lectures are boring, but if you look over her notes and study packets before a test, your destined for an A.

I had Kapica for Gen Chem I lecture. She can be dry, boring and cop an attitude about how hard she works as dept chair vs lazy students, but overall is a good teacher who doesn't try to trick you on quizzes and tests, unlike Johannessen. I got A's on all her lecture exams but ended up with a B since I didn't finish the departmental final :(

I took her 100 and 200 level chemistry class. She definitely helped me figure out that I should not pursue any degree that involves sciences. Her teaching style is very dry and boring. Shes awkward in conversation, but other than that not too bad of a professor.

This was a great class with a fantastic teacher! She made the material interesting and explained it with clarity. Nursing students should take her because she really focuses on biochem and how it applies to the nursing field. I have tons of respect for her! Anyone needing chemistry credits should take her class!!
