Comment:

Lectures are worthless, doesn't explain anything or where he derives the equations he gives. Never understood the questions I had and always was relying on teaching myself or asking other students around me. Would literally put up multiple variables in equations and not explain what they are. Had to drop after a week and a half of summer class.

Comment:

As someone who has never taken physics prior to this class and is not particularly good at it, it's vital that you read and do the problems that he assigns. Study the problems. All test questions come from the problems with minor variation. Be sure to have perfect attendance and take the lab reports seriously. You'll be fine if you follow this.

Having recently finished my undergrad, I had a somewhat jaded opinion of the whole academic experience. After coming back to PCC from a UC my outlook has changed, and much of that is due to how much respect and love Dr. Liu showed me and my fellow students. He will set you up for success if you're willing to put in the time, and he won't trick you.

Taken summer 2018. Caring and knowledgeable. Attendance mandatory. Will minus points if you skip class or leave early. Just follow the study guide and you will get an A. 4 group reports. No HW. 2 tests - midterm and final. Heavy accent, but honestly not that difficult to understand. Relates material to real life. Can reach by email for questions.

Very knowledgeable professor. Although I disagree with his teaching style, hes a great guy. Professor lectures very unorganized and you wont get anything out of his lectures. I did not learn much because his tests come DIRECTLY from the homework so your range of knowledge for certain topics isnt so wide.

Professor Liu is sweet and friendly, and he does mean well for students. However, his teaching style is old school Asia and will not be everyone's cup of tea. READ the book and come to class prepared you will find his lecture more approachable.

Physics is a science course and you can't expect it to be easy if you do not put in any effort. Dr. Liu is a really kind professor and always desire to help if you show some effort that you are serious about this course and about yourself. Take notes, do the homework, ask questions, review for the test and you will get to the point.

I enjoyed Professor Wai min's class. He makes it very easy by writing the homework on the board in which homework questions are asked on the exam. Funny and humble.

I took Prof. Liu's Physics 2A class in the Fall of 2015. He really wants his students to succeed, is available during office hours and occasionally gives EC. Make sure you do your HW, as the exam questions are HW questions but with different numbers. The book helps a lot. Read it before class, then listen to his lectures.

In his class, you will have to learn by your own. He wants to everyone succeed after transferring to Universities. His philosophy is students struggle first, rather spoon feeding students. If you have the ability to study by your own, you should take his class. Physics is not an easy subject.

The last commenter has a skewed view of how he teaches. He complements the book- you'll truly learn the material off that. His tests are literally HW (answers in the back) and examples. Quit whining. I had a low C for the majority of the semester but I got 100% on the final and got an A because I talked to him. He gives good life advice too :)

If you can't teach yourself you're going to fail. He makes no effort to explain where he derives equations or how and when to apply them. If for whatever reason you MUST take this class I recommend you show up for lab day and skip the other day to do the write up or teach yourself . I learned more in 1 Kahn academy video Than in any lecture ever.

I was intimidated by Physics upon starting this course, as I had returned to college after many years away. I received As in both 31A and 31B thanks to Dr. Liu's encouragement. He is an intelligent man and a great teacher who genuinely cares about his students. Go to class, read the book, do the homework, and "read his lips." You'll get an A.
