Great teacher. Expects you to be prepared and responsible. If you're not, you will have a bad experience. Grow up, learn your music and practice or change your major. Face it-not many voice majors at UCA are serious, but there have been several from Oeste's studio in recent years to win NATS competitions and go on to study voice in grad schools.

He is lazy & irresponsible. He blames everyone else for his blatant lack of preparation for rehearsals. He degrades students & the accompanist. His singers typically have no techniques, & the opera program will remain in shambles until it is no longer burdened with his incompetence. He is a detriment to the department and the musical community.

An amazing teacher, friend, and mentor. Very passionate about singing and the welfare and success of his students, major or non. Some people still dislike him, but these students likely weren't serious voice students who wasted his time. How would you feel? Oeste is constantly working FOR us, the students, and still today fights battles for us.

I had him for voice and opera and must say that I really enjoy working with him. Ignore what other people say... He is a nice man that doesn't take any nonsense and sometimes people can't handle that. I highly recommend him.

He is an egotistical idiot who can't deal with any personality except his own. He excuses his students and operas and makes himself out to be the benevolent expert. Everyone else is, of course, to blame. He ignores the virtues of hard work in favor of fun. His students invariably have problems because of it. UCA has MUCH better to offer. RETIRE!
