I enjoyed Dr. Pate's class. It was hard but I learned a lot. If you have a question just ask. She will share her opinions and may come off as abrasive to some but I guarantee you will leave her class knowing more history. I took her twice and made A's both times.

This lady is insane. She thinks her class should be the #1 priority....She gives tremendous amounts of work...DO NOT TAKE if you have any other classes that are very important. Nothing is good enough for DR. Pate. If you do take her class, she likes to argue, then you will get a good grade. If at all possible STAY AWAY!

Do NOT take this professor. She is unreasonable and doesn't care about her students. I had been told not to take her class but the History department is known for their lack of professors and class selection, so they usually leave you with NO choice. Good luck if you got her. All the effort will still get you barely passing

While I can understand some personality clashes with Dr. Pate, she knows history and is eager to share that info with her students. People always complain about all the work...welcome to what a real university class should be like. You will work hard in her classes, but you will also learn a lot. She deserves much more credit than she receives.

Drop her class! If your taking her online course be prepared for a paper due every monday (my 3 paragraph paper was graded a 40/100 due to length), a quiz due every friday, and responses to discussions due daily. It is way too much for an online course.

First, Historical Methods is pointless if you are not a history major. Unfortunately, everyone is forced to take the class. If you decide to take this class be prepared for a lot of work. The work load is extreme for a one semester class. Do not take any other difficult courses while taking Dr. Pate.

Pate is a terrible, unclear, and condescending teacher. If you can, just don't take her. If you have to take her, here is a hint, plan to visit her office often because she loves it. She actually treats you fairly nice when you meet with her. Don't come accoss hostile or arrogant. From doing all this, the best I could do in her class was a C.

This was the worst class I have ever taken. It is a freshman class, yet there are long analysis to write. More reading than an English class. She is scattered, (but nice and jolly)and unorganized. Pop quizzes every week over random facts in the text book that you read. Only Test is Final and midterm. Not one question from the review on final.

This was the worse class throughout my collegiate career. dr. pate is such a condescending teacher whose traveled the world and expects you as a second year student to make the same connections that she does. Don't bother office visits all she does is argue. I would never take her class again.!!

Her Russian History class is a joke. I wouldn't take this class again if someone paid me a million dollars. She does not know how to teach and doesn't care to help her students at all. This class was the hardest class I have ever taken and I am about to graduate with a degree in History. I hate this woman with a passion !!!!

Dr. Pate is the worst teacher to have if you need to keep up a GPA or a scholarship. She does not care about her students and does not wish to help others. She is the department head, and looks to her students as such, people under her. Not even as a last resort, don't take her. Don't even consider it! She's not the right teacher for anyone.

NOOO, NOOO, NOOO!!! This class calls for a lot of studying out of class and reading. You have to learn her ideas, her ways of thinking, and be able to see history in her eyes!!! She has been a historian for years and doesn't realize that this a 1000 level course and the students here are just beginning to learn about HIST!
