Comment:

Struthers is probably the worst math professor I have had during my time at Tech. He teaches class from Mathematica, skips steps when going over problems and lacks organization. When he does do problems by hand, it is nearly impossible to read his handwriting. He claims to be a generous grader, but is actually a prude when giving partial credit.

Comment:

Struthers is such a good Differential Equations professor, he really knows what he's doing and encourages you to ask questions. Exams are made pretty easy because he gives a lot of examples in notes and goes through prior exams. Overall, Struthers is great the only thing "bad" about him is you have to ask him to slide the page up on the projector.

He cares about his students when they put in the work. Go to office hours and address problems you are having, or go to the Wednesday night study sessions he hosts. If you go to class, do the homework and aren't afraid to ask questions during lecture you will succeed. Learn how to use your calculator too!

Senselessly promotes Mathematica while industry standard has been Matlab for years. Judgmental and holds grudges. Won't give you a chance to improve. Not very great with giving real life examples. Takes things for granted.

He is very charming and extremely passionate about his subjects. I would agree that he doesn't do as well in a large class like in U115, but he is fantastic one-on-one. Really cares about you, and doesn't talk down to you. Will do examples until you can't stand it any more. Would recommend.

Struthers hasn't taught Calc 3 in ten years, but he did much better than my previous professor. Although he doesn't do a lot of examples on paper and generally goes to Mathematica for just about everything, he will help you however he can. Office hours are extremely helpful. Take Struthers if you can!

Struthers is one of the best professors at MTU. He does many examples, and is always there to help during office hours. Warning, he doesn't really have that great of a filter, which isn't really a problem.

Best teacher at MTU. Most helpful, funny guy I have ever had. He helped me in other math classes as well as differential equations. I recommend him 100%.

This guy is awesome! Managed to make accelerated Differential Equations almost somewhat enjoyable. Gave us plenty of practice with scantron homework and everything. Really helped prepare us for quizzes and final. Only complaint is they didn't mark the questions we got wrong on the scantrons. Could use entire page of notes for final.Great professor

He was an alright teacher and I liked him as a person he basically just stopped teaching after the third week and just did problems we asked him from our homework. Im not too good at learning things by reading a book so this didnt help. Probably wouldnt take another class with him again.

I was in a large class in u115, so it may be different in a smaller class. He is very energetic and was very willing to teach. This was at 8am as well. The class wasn't easy, but I don't think you'll find any Calc 3 class that is. He handed out "scoop" exams that were very helpful to study from. I would recommend taking a class from him.

Finally I figured out what the heck calculus is for, he gave some real, real-world examples. He really seems to enjoy what he does and I think that's a good thing. Sit up front, ask questions, be pro-active and you will get more out of class. Don't be afraid to see him during office hours he's very approachable

Very good prof. Made a difficult calc2 class much more bearable. His exams are pretty straight foreword just study what he tells you and you'll do fine. The final exam sorta sucked though.

Take notes ask questions. He actually gives you real world applications for Calc, which is pretty cool. Talk to him outside of class and you'll be doing yourself a favor.

Like others have said, he doesn't teach as well to a large class, but he does better than the other math profs (as far as I can tell). Just keep in ming the tests have material he won't even mention in class and follow his practice tests. If you talk to him out of class (which he encourages) he is helpful.
