Shouldve read the reviews on him first, theyre very accurate. He doesnt tell you whats wrong so impossible to learn from him, just tells you how horrible it is. people say he a tough/bad teacher and i think he is an excellent teacher. He elaborated on topics and not a boring elaboration but interesting stories that open your mind up and and allow you to stay engaged. he said on the first day if you at least show that you put mind to work you will pass. i took a summer com class and worked full time + pased

If a student is a slacker, or just coasting, Belyi can be a bit rude. But so far as I can tell, if you actually try to care about the class, do the work, don't make excuses, and show some respect, then all will be well. If you don't, then you deserve to be criticized and jerked back in line. It's college.

Easy class if you study and do your work. Many people in the class complained and dropped out but i found it quite easy. There's a few grammar test that require extensive studying. The essays are a lot of fun because he returns your paper w. comments which makes you a better writer in the end. The only downside lectures suck. Not a bad class

i would recommend not to take this class. he goes over the material that is on the quiz/test the day of. there is a bit of writing and he is a stickler about MLA format. he grades by points so if you got a 79 you would only get a 3/5. he isn't a people person and when I went to go get help from him he wasn't very helpful at all

I will admit this guy knows what he is talking about, but he is not a people person. He is extremely rude and doesn't really help that much when you ask for it. The class isn't too hard, but I didn't enjoy going because he was VERY mean to students for stupid reasons. He is also known for losing papers. If you can, avoid taking his class.

Professor Belyi's class was not easy. It took a lot of effort to get a B in his class. His class mainly consisted of grammer tests, so watch out if grammer is not your strongest aspect. If he gives an opportunity to meet with him outside of class TAKE IT!

Took 6 week summer class - very rushed. Learned early on to avoid writing my own opinions and just go with whatever he said in class. Not as terrifying as some descriptions would have you believe, just make sure you do the work. Did tend to become easily sidetracked sometimes. And his use of the English language is perfect, whatever others say.

A's for most the semester then I was pulling C's and D's on my paper. Completely useless teacher, will excuse himself from class for 10-15 min in the middle of the lecture (60 min class) Completely biased. Plenty more Comm2 teachers out there to choose from. I liked prof belyi. i thought he was cool and my writing got a lot better cuz of him. for ppl to say not to take him cuz of his accent is gay. he knows better grammar than all of my english teachers from hs put together. Just learn MLA format and you'll be fine.

I thought Prof Belyi was a very fair teacher.I learned a lot from him. He does ask you to write 5 500 wd pps but they're not hard.The hardest part is the promts. They're critical thinking. We do 5 Journal responses that are easy as hell(300 wds)&a research pp. He likes people that speak up.He's always there for after class help. He makes you think.

This man always says one thing and does another. completely opinion-based grades. one moment you will get As, the next, C-, depends on how well you spit out what he says. lost papers on two occasions, does not answer emails, will show you gory and sexual images on the projector with little relevance to topic. worst student experience ever. avoid

Mr. Belyi was one of the worst teachers I have come in contact with so far at BCC. He belittles his students and makes you feel dumb. There are alot of reports to write and he chooses the topic for you. He is all about grammer and says he keeps his opions out of his grading but he is absolutly biased. I thought that the class was amazing. I am not very good in english, but he totally brought me up to his standards. He was very clear on what to do and how to do it. He helped me tremendously. At times he seemed strict, but it helped me to understand what I had been doing wrpong in the past. I would advise any and everyone to take him!
