If you go to SCCC and you think Chen is NOT a good professor, good luck finding one thats better. Not only at SCCC but in general. Now that I'm a senior getting by BS degree, I look back on how awesome Chen was. If you wanna do well in CS then dont miss a single thing he teaches and implement it in your own example.

I took this fall 2017. And I think Chen is awesome. Rarely professors are so reasonable and willing to help on your projects if you need it. Just do all the homeworks and show up and pay attention. This class is foundation to your future.

I have also taken CSE148 & CSE218 with him. Best professor you could ever have, and I am sad to be leaving him after this semester. He is tough, but only to push you so you are fully prepared. I hated having to miss a class, not only for missed material but because I genuinely enjoy his class. You should 100% take Chen if you can. Great man.

If you're a Computer Science major at Suffolk and you're not taking Chen for every class you can, you're doing it wrong. Great teacher, great department chair, great guy. Can be very sarcastic sometimes in class but don't take it personally: he cares deeply about his students. Switched my whole schedule around to take him and it was worth it.

Honestly the best professor I've had at Suffolk. The course material isn't easy, but the man knows his stuff. If you put the time in and come to class, you will come out of his class a more educated individual. Will be taking another of his classes in the Fall.

Definitely learnt a lot in his class. He goes over everything very thoroughly and tells you exactly what you need to know. The two tests were fair if you pay attention during class and do all the assigned homeworks. The final project was very time consuming and I felt as though i was ill-prepared for certain aspects of it.

He was the worst professor I ever had. He has completely no compassion for others. He never wants to give extra helps and will lie that he has to go home soon or have a class soon to avoid giving extra help. You would know that he was lying when you see him still staying in his office 3 hours after you asked him for extra help. Never take his class

If you are a CS major you need to be taking Chen for every class you can. His projects can seem daunting but you will learn more from them then anything else. Be sure to start them as soon as possible, do not wait until the last minute. Very reasonable and cares about his students.

Professor Chen is by far the best computer science professor at Suffolk Community College. If you are serious about computer science, willing to learn and work hard, then I highly recommend taking Professor Chen. He explains all the concepts very clearly and his tests are based on the homework and very fair. There are 2 tests and a final project.

Show up, write your "final paper" which consists of telling him about what you plan to do with your life, and you will pass with an A. He does tell you about a lot of interesting things in class. He's a great teacher in other classes (and difficult at times) but he says he doesn't think CSE 110 should exist, so he makes it impossible to fail.

Chen is really a great professor. At first he seems intimidating, but he really just wants to make sure you know what you are getting into when majoring in Computer Science. He is very knowledgable about what he teaches, and while attendance is not mandatory, I recommend showing up to ask questions. Tests are identical to homework questions.

If anyone thinks Chen is an overly difficult professor, they never had a difficult class in their life. They probably had any other teacher in the department that does not teach them sh!t and when they got to Chen teaching the real deal, they could not handle it. Take Chen for EVERYTHING, stick with it, and you'll be better off than these fools.

If you want to take computer science seriously and get a real job take Chen. Coming from a fairly lazy student, the work load is a lot but is necessary in order to pass future classes. Any comment about 'being disrespectful to students' is fairly inaccurate as he isn't disrespectful but rather won't care about you if you don't care about the class.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR FOR EVERY SINGLE COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE, Yes he is hard but if you do the HW you will be fine! every other professor here cant compare cuz they do what they want and its crap ,this professor teaches exactly what you need to succeed in computer sci!
