This professor is very intelligent and kind, but disorganized. He will try to give you the best grade possible on everything. Unfortunately it was impossible to pay attention during class because he looks at the floor or the wall when he talks. He puts the slides on blackboard but a lot of the slides were hard to follow.

Professor Brownawell is a very intelligent man, but very unorganized. Class ends in a week and we are still receiving new assignments with no written instruction. If you ask him a question, he will drag it out into a long statistical story and he will not answer your initial question. Does not get back to you on emails. No attendance taken

took marine pollution because it sounded cool and you it said you did not need orgo, wrong. orgo would have helped me alot. only two tests which i failed both. the co teacher was worse than he was. only good thing is that he gave a small review sheet for the test

Very interesting professor. He seems lost most of the time, but overall he knows his stuff. Exams are very tricky, especially his multiple choice and true/false questions. Just put a lot of effort into the research paper and presentations if you do below average on the exams and you will get at least a B.

This guy is extremely unorganized and quite frankly, I believe this class is his last priority (shows up most of the time unprepared). However, he is a nice guy and you do learn a lot (most of class material is interesting). Exams and work load are beyond fair. Move past the disarray and he really isn't that bad.

He takes attendance everyday which really hurts your grade if you don't go. Awesome professor, hard class. Just one midterm and one presentation, midterm very hard but huge curve and presentation is easy and raises your grade. Very nice professor goes out of his way to help you highly recomend!

True, he can be disorganized. Live with it. That's more than made up for by his knowledge of the subject, flexability, reasonable grading, and focus on discussion and content, rather than following a syllabus. In additon, he goes way out of his way to help his students--a really great guy.

he's a very bad lecturer, and he also accused about half of the class of cheating during our first exam (which earned him a reprimand from the department, and he was told to apologize during lecture to the students) the material itself isn't hard if you can stay awake and read the textbook- he's a major jerk though

Is it possible to find a worse professor for this course. I truly doubt that. This guy cannot complete a thought with say " Ah, Um...(25 second pause) each time he speaks. Do not be surprised if he starts talking about things that are meant to be discussed a month or two later on the sylabus
