Dr Schaller is an intelligent man, but does not know how to teach beginners. You need to do a lot of self teaching and outside learning to succeed. My best advice would be to get a tutor right away.

Dr. Schaller is incredible. Be prepared, his tests are the hardest you'll have in college. But you'll also be better prepared for them than you will be for any other test. He teaches really well, and if you take time to go to his office and ask questions (he's available all the time), you will literally know the stuff forwards and backwards.

He is a tough grader and expects a lot out of his students, but you learn SO much when taking a class of his. He is great one-on-one when you're not understanding concepts and is effective at finding what you're missing. If you're pre-anything and need chemistry courses to graduate, take one with Schiller, you will be well prepared and then some.

Yes, Dr. Schaller is tough, but you will learn so much if you take him. His explanations to things are to the point and is very willing to help if you seek him out during office hours or set up an appointment. I hope to take all of my future chemistry courses with Dr. Schaller.

If you need ochem for any type of grad school take Schaller. He's tough, but he's much more helpful and a more fair grader than the other profs. He's usually helpful when you take the time to ask him about something. Class lecture was pretty easy to understand. Has a quirky sense of humor. Tests are difficult and require application of concepts.

O-chem is challanging in general and his tests are difficult, but he is a fabulous teacher. He makes sure you understand the material and it willing to help you if you don't. Makes class interesting. One of the best professors I have ever had and would recommend him to anyone taking chemistry.

Afraid of a challenge? Avoid This professor. Just know you will learn more from this professor than the others, because of the challenge. Tougher tests, but quizzes can help the grade too. FANTASTIC PROFESSOR

Absolutely excellent lecture professor. He teaches things very clearly and is very helpful if you ask a question. His tests on the other hand, are not so easy. You can know everything, but still fail...I guess that's just OChem in general though.
