She by far the smartest teacher/person I have ever met. You have to work hard in her class and its about 7 books and 5 papers but I would redo the class over again if I had to opportunity because I loved it so much. You must try on your papers, if you don't she will destroy it/ your grade. She respects all opinions but will correct false facts

Comment:

Had Claire for POLS111, and had very few complaints. She's very organized and is always perfectly clear about what is expected on tests and papers. Classes are definitely lecture heavy, but she goes at a good pace and always answers questions promptly. She is very politically defined, but thankfully doesn't force her views upon others.

Claire is the chair of the Poli Sci department. Poli Sci 211 is a paper and discussion based class. You will be expected to read multiple books. You have to discuss the reading in detail. He grades the discussions and papers with a harsh detail. She will make you a better student. She's also very funny and blunt don't take her comments personal.

Claire is funny and nice, but is a very thorough and strict grader who wants everything to be EXACTLY the way she says. Her tests are not too hard and the readings are not required, but make sure you show up and pay enough attention. Doing this will get you a good grade. She is also always willing to help if you ask.

Claire was awesome freshman year. I took her as my advisor. She changed. I love my POLS major, and Political Life may be my least favorite class of all time. She can be demeaning in discussion; if your opinion varies from hers, you should change it or not even speak. Some of the things she says can be maddening. It truly is to bad she changed..

Claire is so helpful and funny with all of her students. She takes time to get to know her students and her class sizes are often fairly small. 211 is a discussion based class and she does a very good job of getting people to participate and good ideas moving. I'd recommend her for any class you can.

She's Australian. So if that drives you crazy, and you don't wanta feel like you're down under every time you step into her class, try to take someone else. Helpful teacher though, lectures are all over the course, but she expects you to be able to know the material, and recite the book word for word. She's a lot of fun though! NOT.

She is my favorite professor in the Pols dept. and would encourage everyone to take her class. This is my second class with her and absolutely love her. She assigns a lot of reading and a couple papers. People say she is a hard grader but i would say otherwise.

Claire is a great person and obviously very intellegent person. The only trouble I had with her class was that she speaks with words and concepts that are too complex for teaching basic ideas. It is key to define words before using them. She also is easily sidetracked making her lecture unclear. She is very helpful if you ask her questions.
