His lecture tests are 80 percent of the grade, and you have to be there every class if you expect to do well on them. If you go to class and take good notes you will be fine

Dr. Brown is very passionate about history, which keeps the class interesting. He loves dates, so whenever he gives you a date for an event then you have to know it. Also, you need to write down literally everything he says during lecture, no matter how insignificant the information seems to you. He likes to ask random question from lectures.

Mr. Brown is a really sweet, older man. He is obviously passionate about history which is awesome. It's also evident through his very long lectures. Every single class is a lecture, for an hour and 20 minutes. He is an easy grader honestly, but the TA we had was awful. That guy killed my grade. Dr. Brown was good, but the TA was horrible.

Dr. Brown is probably one of the few professors that actually shows interest in the subject. I highly suggest attending class. Tests can be tough but their straight from the notes and if you show up to class its an easy A.

Dr. Brown is incredibly knowledgeable on the South and I learned so much about it. We had to read three short novels, all interesting, and have a few lecture tests. He tells you exactly how the test will be. Also lets class out early sometimes. Likes to make small talk at beginning and end of class too. Great class!

I took U.S. History from 1941-73 and loved it. There is no busy work or nightly reading homework. GO TO CLASS and take very good notes. We also had to read three books on three different presidents then write essays in class about them. Dr. Brown knows his subject and enjoys teaching. Not hard at all if you don't cram.

Dr. Brown is a very intelligent professor. All lectures are oral, and note taking is mandatory. If you write down exactly what he says and memorize important events, dates, and names, the tests will be easy.

Nice guy once you get used to his gruffness. Very straightforward class, no surprises on tests. Lectures the entire class period, and basically everything he says will be tested over. If your good at memorizing this class will be a breeze. DONT MISS CLASS or you will get very behind. Hates late people too, and wont hesitate to yell at tardy people.

Take another teacher!!! I make all A's & I got a C in this class. You have lecture tests & essay tests. He is an author & expects you to write as if you are an author. On top of that, he expects your essays to be something around 6 pages long! Also, could not be any more boring if he tried. Not a good class, trust me! (take Rzeppa instead!)

Dr. Butler is by far my favorite teacher at TCU. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you skip one class you will die. His tests come exactly from his notes, so write down what he says word for word and memorize it. Know specific dates and key people and little random facts. I got a 100 on my first test, so it's easy if you study.

Dr. Brown is a cute lil 'ol man & he can be quite funny at times during his class! His class is all lecture and taking notes. Don't ask questions while he is talking; he gives time for q&a's at the end. Great guy. Isn't very easy to meet with outside of class. Tests are tricky so read each book and take detailed notes.

I had Dr. Brown for a couple of classes in undergrad, and I LOVED him! He was funny and entertaining, but his tests were all about details. Work on names and dates, and you'll do fine on exams and enjoy the class!

A book-writer professor. Class is second to writing about his books. Very smart man, but a poor teacher who fails to connect to his students. Thank god it was only 50 min long classes.Very hard tests, i always was taking them up to the 50 minute mark. Incredibly condescending to college students today, with lots of "back in my day" crap.Do not take!

He's a great teacher but his tests are impossible. If you like all fill in the blank and essays, take him. The books are easy to read but you will take a huge amount of notes. Be sure to memorize every thing he says if you want to make an A in the class. He is a great guy you will learn a lot, but you need to know details more than anything.
