Bywaters was by far my favorite teacher! He has a great sense of humor, a real passion for what he's teaching, and clearly a lot of knowledge to share. I wish there were more classes I could take with him!

He's okay. He has a good sense of humor and I enjoy his personality. He's really not that great of a professor though. I can't say I learned much from him. I've taken two of his classes and he's pretty easy

This is a basic grammar course, and Bywaters often fails to understand that many of us have had terrible/no grammar lessons until now. The lectures are very confusing, especially since he often contradicts himself while talking so the class doesn't know which answer is correct. He's a nice guy, but learning is not a priority in this class.

If you do the assigned readings and pay attention, you'll do fine. He's really funny, so if you're afraid at all of English grammar, take 207 with Bywaters. He's not the easiest, but he's good quality.

He is so funny and weird. This 110 class requires reading two stories per class and taking a quiz on them. He sometimes have you working in groups and the class can be boring. He is really open minded and cares about your opinion. Fairly easy class if you dont mind reading then you'll easily get an A! Also he offered extra credit. highly recommende

I think some people mistake his sense of humor for something more condescending. The material is not easy to get enthused about, but he maintains enough personal enthusiasm that the class is bearable. Very helpful guy if you approach him.

Advanced Essay Writing, mostly we just commented on previous papers and wrote about six of our own. I'm already pretty good at writing, so I bs'ed the first paper and got a C, so I had to actually write in order to get the A's. I disagreed with his idea of good writing (and told him so), but I just switched my style to what he wanted and got an A.

Wow what a boring class. The only thing that sometimes makes it bareable is Bywater's humor. He is a very funny man however he will READ the material to you in class. He will go through word by word the material and explain it, which is helpful but BORING.

The only good thing about this class was that he was honest about how terrible the reading material would be. The daily written responses were tedious and having the write papers on books read outside class cheapened the required reading in my opinion. All he did was lecture and didn't prepare us at all for the final.
