Comment:
disorganized course work and plan, not responsive, not dedicated for student's success, assignment do not match text, tricky and hard assignments for an introductory class even if you think you know programming. course wont be available for several weeks and everything will get piled up for you to do. Forget using book even if you've got it.

Not a very good teacher. He has prewritten material that he's used for quite some time. If you try to contact him to ask a question it will take weeks for a response if he even does respond. I would recommend taking Mr. Beech instead if that's an option for you.

Assignments posted at random, IT Lab's do not fully work, You won't gain anything from this course that about 2 hours on google couldn't teach you.

Inconsistent. The homework does not match up with the reading material or online resources. The assignments are given sporadically and the updates have large gaps of time in between them. Bad communication. Getting answers about some of the material is like pulling teeth. Do not take this if you do not plan on completely teaching yourself.

VERY confusing, poor job of presenting the material.. there are only a few online videos 10 min total per chapter. you have to read the textbook pdf's and teach yourself Due dates are not posted until day(s) before the material is due. long periods (weeks) of no new material posted . must email him or call a lot to get a response. dont take!!!!!

Worst class I've ever had online. Took over a month before we got our first assignments and they didn't have any due dates for almost another month afterwards. His homework assignments are harder than they should be, open ended questions that just don't make any sense. If you are new to programming Do not take this class online! Waste of time

Halcomb did a great job with the material given. He focused on making sure the class understood what he was teaching since CIT 120 is a class that builds up to level 1 programming. Instead of trying to blast through the book and pick up more concepts, he made sure we understood everything thoroughly. Awesome experience. Dude is also hilarious.

He is poor at responding to emails and helping out in general. You will go unnoticed if you take his online class unless you annoy him to death with emails and phone calls. I sent him several of my grades via email and he forgot to plug them into his grade book. He would not help me out when I was unable to get several assignments to work.

This "professor" is horrible! his CIT 120 class is probably the worse class that I have taken in BCTC! The homework instructions aren't clear, most of the time it is poorly worded and you do not know the due date is because he forgets to list it. Your textbook? forget about it, he will use last years textbook and give you a pdf copy of the chapter!

Don is a helpful and friendly professor. I found his class to be well planned and very clear. His online material was great. He was always very helpful and very nice to talk with. You know what was expected of you on the first day of classes. Definitely knows his stuff. I wouldn't hesitate to take a class with him in the future.

If you ask for a schedule you will be told there is none and that he "herds cats" for scheduling. Wont tell you what the grading procedure is. Get a C on 6 short quizzes and a perfect 100 A on ~30 assignment exams and get given a overall C. Horrible grading. Email twice about the grading procedure, no response. In fact, rarely responds to email.

I took Cit105 online with him. You need the book. You have 2 or 3 chapters due every like 2 weeks (1 textbook ass., 1 soundbyte ass. per chapter, and exam)The assignments and exams are pretty easy if you skim through the book and can find the answers.

Halcomb is a more or less average teacher. He's not really bad, but he's not particularly good either. He knows when to inject a bit of humor into his lectures and how to include the class, so at the very least, he's not boring. He could be a bit confusing at times, though...

This was an online course. The instructor does not give very clear instructions on how to complete assignments. You will find that you are always emailing him to have him clarify the instructions. You will also always be emailing him to post assignments, tests, projects, etc. He has been totally useless.
